So... based on all your experience ... is it your advice that we should change oil maybe every 4 years, or maybe every 11 years, or maybe every 40,000 to 50,000 miles?

I'm just trying to clarify your advice so that I can give it the consideration it deserves.

Penzoil Platinum Ultra Offers Better protection and seems to be a much better oil
At my local Walmart, the Mobil 1 section is as big as all the other sections combined. Lately it seems like they're always sold out, not sure why. This is the most I've seen in a month. Also I checked and they have the Penn Platinum but I did not see Platinum Plus.

This is hilarious. I agree you don't need to change every 3k (especially when using synthetic), but this is overdoing it a little. The need for clean oil for engine longevity is a well-established fact. If 75k is enough for you before engine rebuild, then I applaud you. Many engines today last 300k miles. However, I dare you to try and get that many miles changing your oil every 50k :p

What are are everyone’s plans for breaking in the Maverick? I plan to change the oil right after the first 1k miles and not drive at speeds in excess of 70MPH until that point. I also plan to change the trans fluid after 10k

The manual does not say it needs an oil change after 1k miles but won’t hurt as long as the oil fluid is properly recycled.

per the manual “BREAKING-IN” page 273 “avoid driving at high speeds”. I believe this to be 60MPH but I can’t drive that slow on the interstate, what does everyone think?

Sure... Do you mind if I put you on hold for a minute? I'll be right back...

[ETA]

I just checked my records for comparison. It seems my car has about 400,000 miles on it. I changed the oil for the first and last time at around 200,000. And apparently I last put fuel in it about 50,000 miles ago. It's still going strong. I think I'm getting about 5,000 MPG, but that's with premium. I never get over about 4,500 MPG with regular.

And everything works -- just like your car -- except there may be a slight exhaust leak that is having some kind of effect on my brain. I'm having a little difficulty with concepts like time and math. Have you noticed that with yours? It kind of seems like you might have the same problem.
