Upside down furniture caster? That’s what it looks like, nothing automotive. Weird!

It's plastic and the wheel is on a spring and goes up and down.

Looks like a limit switch of some sort. Is there an electrical connector on the other side?

It was not attached to anything

Uhh is there a spot on the other side that wasn’t attached to anything, that looks like a place where an electrical connector might attach?

Anyway, it looks like a part of a door catch that would fit into a holder on the other side, like a cabinet door. If the glovebox feels like it shuts normally, then the piece could also be some sort of catch or detent for HVAC equipment.

Image search came up with this, looks pretty close, probably not from your truck but fell into the vent at some point. I doubt Ford would use a small part held in with four screws, they'd use a plastic, snap in piece. Are you the first owner?
