What is this plug for?

I was looking under the hood of my truck mostly to check fluids when I realized this plug. What is it for? Possibly something for the hybrid models?

I don't believe you would find something for a hybrid under the hood of an EcoBoost. I don't think they share any mechanical components there other than the wipers and heater core?

Do you mean block heater? I’m in Canada and could have ordered mine with a block heater but didn’t, so close to the 49th don’t get that cold, Garage parked. Besides, looking at my ‘loaded’ 24 EcoBoost FX4, I still have a few of those ‘unplugged’ connectors.

When I had an Ecoboost I checked this connector.
It looks like a tech can access the CAN bus.

At the time it had the tether that would keep you from dropping the blank connector.

On the Maverick hybrid still have that C1026 connector and a Green C1001 connector "Low Voltage Service Disconnect" used to disable the High Voltage system.
