What exactly do you get with the Lariat (vs XLT)?

I ordered XLT Lux but moved up to Lariat Lux.. both hybrids, that part I won't compromise on. Personally, I think the XLT interior should be the flagship. But I'm keeping this truck a while and wanted the most up to date equipment, like stop/go adaptive cruise.

A replacement visor is like 50 bucks... You can say that but it's such an inexpensive thing to put in/replace that you would think if I'm paying 26k for something it can be put in lol

I think a better comparison would be when ford started putting in lighted visors in their trims and what the prices of those trucks were then to now
Oh, I'm sure their cost for the lighted visor is much less than $50. Probably $5. But that's not the point.

First, lighted visors is just what you want/say is inexplicable to not have on a base trim. There is a laundry list of other "inexpensive" addons that others would like. Which one's should Ford add to the base trim? Keep in mind, for each one added it's 100% profit of very small margins they're eating into at the base trim.

Second, for each of the addons they include on the base trim, they're reducing the likelihood of selling higher end trims, so they'll lose much more in potential profit than simply the cost of part. It may sound cynical, but they wouldn't be able to sell the base level at the low margins they're selling it at if they weren't taking larger margins on the higher trims.

Finally, lighted visors are included in the $26K trim (lariat) of this car. That's still pretty much an entry level price in the current market. This of it as ford offering your discounts for taking options away from at $26K entry level car.

As to what vehicle we should compare it to in figuring out what options ford should include on what trims, I prefer to avoid such comparisons in the abstract. I'd rather look at what's offered at what price, and what value I get from those options. I don't find it helpful comparing what options a current entry level vehicle get compared to a 20 year old mid-level off road vehicle.

Oh yeah. Ford sold this truck as “DIY,” for the bed but I feel that bleeds into a lot of other areas too.

It was all about making a base truck for under $20k. Lots of cuts needed to be made. And I’m glad they did.

The list could go on and on and on and on too if we all say “this needs to be standard in 2021.”

For me, the mid package XLT doesn’t have one touch up/down windows but I’m buying a $27k truck so I’m ok with that. Yes, probably a very minimal cost addition for Ford but like others have said. Maybe they thought we’d jump up to Lariat. Nope.

XLT luxury package works for my build, budget, and wants. I am getting everything I want for a build price of $29k.

I always recommend establishing a budget, when completing these builds.

I'm thinking about changing from XLT lux to Lariat without lux to get the active x seats. I need to explore what options I need to add individually to retain what I want from the XLT lux package.

One thing you are NOT getting in the Lariat trim: heated seats. You still need the Lariat Lux package to get heated seats, which is insane.
For some reason I am not impressed with heated seats...not a big deal to me despite cold Ohio weather. I just could not bring myself to get the "Lux package" with the orange trim everywhere. It just looked tacky to me.

The XLT interior works as a theme, but frankly it reminds me of a nautical themed comforter set. I like orange personally, but don't really get it in the Maverick. Seems like the neon orange would clash with most exterior colors. But I don't like the brown in the Lariat either.

I did this. Just go from XLT Lux to Lariat Lux.

It's a step up in price that was hard for me to justify, at first. Until I realized that even with the increase, I really preferred the Lariat Lux as a whole package and I should get what I want.

The person you replied to is utterly mistaken. You get heated seats with the XLT luxury package, no need to go for Lariat.

Didn’t you say somewhere else you built what you wanted first and then set a budget after 🤣🤣🤣

Regardless of model you need Lux Package for heated seats. Not standard on any trim.

I'm not yet sure I want to spring for the full price difference.

I think the drivers window on the XL/XLT is one touch up/down but the other 3 windows are not, of course the other 3 passengers are not usually making the payments so they can work their window a little more. :)

I do not believe that was me.

Yes, I believe in building what you want, but within YOUR budget.
