What are the 2022 vs 2027 changes?

We have a 2022 Lariat that we had built and purchased new. 25K miles on it- Mainly a second car for my wife and myself to do "little" truck stuff with. My wife loves it. It's small, nimble, good on gas, easy to reach everything in the bed, comfortable, easy to drive, etc.

We are hiring a new field guy and I am going to give him our 2022 and likely purchase a 2027. Are there any major changes between the 2? The most obvious that I see is the front bumper change, as well as the elimination of the manual controls for HVAC and heated seats. I really hate the screen HVAC stuff so that's a major downgrade to me.

It looks like the dash is all digital now, and the radio is larger, both of which doesn't matter one way or the other to me.

The add of 360 camera is nice, but not necessary to me on a vehicle this small.

I like the look of the Tremor, but the 2K lb tow rating is a big zonk imo. I have a 3500 Ram for heavy towing, but the 4K towing on the Maverick is great for moving small trailers around. The brake controller is comical on a vehicle this small with low tow rating, but I have used it to move heavier empty construction trailers with electric brakes.

Is the transmission still the same? That's my biggest issue with the Maverick. The transmission is horrible. It has fantastic power, but the transmission really kills the driving experience.

Pricing- Identical build is now $39,505 vs my 2022 was $35,805. Almost a 2% increase per year isn't terrible, but not great either. I negotiated almost 3K off my original order, now the dealers are giving several hundred which is pretty sad.

Have you considered purchasing a “leftover” 2026 model after the 2027 models come out? I haven’t heard of many differences between the 2026 and 2027 models. Once the new year models are on the lot you can usually find dealers willing to offer a pretty good discount to clear out the previous year models.

I don't think anyone can do anything but guess at the specifics of the '27s for another couplafew weeks. Afaik, announcements have not been made.

But if you Google the '26 specifics, you'll get a strong notion. Imo, despite the loss of physical hvac buttons and controversial fascia, the mid-cycle refresh was a net positive.

Some answers even though I have a hybrid. From what I've heard here, the transmission software no longer gives that bad experience in use. Software refinement I guess. The Lariat now has what was the Lux package on the 2022's standard, heated wiper park is gone, steering wheel controls somewhat different, glove box damper gone and ambient console lighting gone. I'm sure there's more, but those are what easily comes to mind for me. Edit: don't want to forgot about the larger screen and vastly improved entertainment system or the new dual port 2.0 introduced on the '25's eliminating any carbon buildup problems .

I would say check the features closely, ford has de-contented numerous items/features that were previously standard. Some are no longer available, some are now optional. Ford also made some improvements so it’s a give and take. Check the order guides for your current model against the newer model is probably a good way to compare features wise.

I originally ordered the Maverick for one of my employees. It took so long to build, I ended up getting that employee a different car (Ford Escape). By the time it came in, it was an extra car in the fleet. I started driving it around and really enjoyed it. Then my wife borrowed it a couple times, then she really liked it.... Then it ended up residing at our house for a 2nd vehicle that we both used.

Fast forward to hiring another field guy, I can give him the '22. I bought the Ford 8 year warranty, so mileage and age should be perfect at the end of the 8 year mark.

Usually I buy Ram 1500 for field guys, but pricing on them are stupid right now and he doesn't need a half ton for his position so the Maverick makes the most sense. Gives me time to shop Mavericks for the best deal since I am not in a rush to get a new vehicle.

I am open to 2026 or 2027. The 2026 seem pretty picked over in Lariat trim. After looking, doesn't look like the 2027 are even on the lots yet. The website builder is for 2026 models.

Building the 2026 Lariat on fords website, it looks like Copilot is now included vs $650 add on my '22. The power sliding window is now an add of $350 vs included on my '22. 4K tow is still an add of $745. I am not sure what other options are no longer available.

We are very fortunate to be able to provide Foreman with vehicles to run jobs more efficiently. In the current market, I don't think any foreman would accept the position and not have a vehicle provided for them.

Major ecoboost difference as I understand it is engine (maybe since 2025?) has both direct and port fuel injection which cuts WAY down on valve carbon buildup problem that having just direct injection previously caused by not passing fuel through the valves so that chemical cleaners in the fuel can help keep the valves clean. Eliminates the need for eventual expensive methods like walnut shell cleaning or head removal and valve jobs. That may be more of an issue I think for higher mileage users than you. But for others it can be a major consideration.

The 2027 Order Guide release/Order Bank opening is on Aug 11th, so they haven't built any 2027's yet. Once the Order Guide is available, you can see the content level, and determine if ordering a new one makes sense for you.
