I believe p/n NZ6Z-1015-A (Wheel Assembly) $709.29 is the steel wheel itself.

You can buy a takeoff steel wheel off the marketplace on this forum for way less than $700. Even if you have to pay to have it shipped, with or without a tire, you should be able to get yourself set up with a full size spare for a fraction of the number quoted by the dealer.
I can’y imagine a steel rim would be $700. I was born on a Saturday but I wasn’t born yesterday.

I drive a tractor trailer for a living…..you get used to reacting as the situation dictates. We all figure it out.
that’s why they do tandem axles&double wheels; you blow a tire at full speed&u can still get somewhere.I guess in a work situation I wouldn’t mind having to figure it out,I wouldn’t want 2be in that situation w/young kids on a Sunday night, hours from home…

Problem with the Maverick is the the full size tire is still smaller than the other tires
Eh, not so much. IIRC, the rim is the correct size, but the tire sidewall height is like 1" shorter and width ~1/2" narrower. It was fully discussed and compared in a previous thread. Also, complaints about the tire quality being junk and someone speculating Ford must have had them custom made as cheap as possible to save a few pennies each?

As I said in post you responded to, I was going to wear out the originals on the steelies and then buy 5 new same tires so I could start 5 wheel rotations. The original spare will probably never be used in all that time and never be a factor in my plans until new rubber purchased all around.

*EDIT* check this thread for full discussion. Posts #3 & #11 have the precise info. And yes, I'm only talking about the 17" to 17" tire exchanges like my XL will have- when it gets here in 6 months maybe.

It's not listed on build & price details in 4k tow and I had to add my FS even though I have 4k tow selected. Are you sure you aren't confusing 4k tow package with FX-4?
yeah, I got a full size spare with my tow package. no fx4 for me

As an XL owner, I’ll be selling my steelies soon enough, suggest you wait and just buy one from the many XL owners, this would be true full size vs what they equip as the full size. Just have to check for fit but the steelies should be fine unless you get large wheels/tires.

I'm not ordering a full size spare because it sticks out more and I prefer a clean look on the rear. I also never drive too far away and havent had a flat in 17 years.

Depending on your abilities either a tire repair kit and pump, a real spare or run on flat tires. Wife has run on flats. I have a belt and suspenders (kit & spare).

So list on that rim is 568.56. That's a huge mark up on the parts manager's side to $709.29. I am sure you can find one for an escape or bronco sport at the junkyard for less by now!

I didn’t get ripped because I did not buy the $900 spare. As I stated I have needed a spare twice in 40 years of driving. One of my compact cars in the late 1980s came with a can of Fix-It-Flat…….that was your spare. A donut was an upgrade option.
