Will a correct size tire fit the spare rim?
If so will it still fit in the spare tire holding area?

Just curious if you were able to re-use the spare tire wheel rim and just put a bigger size on it. I plan on doing something similar if my order gets built next year. Its more BS. "Technically" it is a "full size", but its not the same size. I just bought new tires and bought a new matching spare tire as well. The shop that put them on didn't even want the spare they took off for free, that's how shitty it is.
Knowing how stringent people/manufacturers are with keeping the same size/brand/model tires on all four wheels of an AWD so it doesn't mess up the AWD system makes me wonder why Ford did this. They spare isn't even the same height as the others. That makes me believe Ford is OK with mismatched tires on this truck.
.
I bought 5 new 245/65 17 tires for my Maverick, one for the spare. It fits the factory spare rim and fits under the truck.Just curious if you were able to re-use the spare tire wheel rim and just put a bigger size on it. I plan on doing something similar if my order gets built next year.
Thanks, I’m probably sticking with the 225’s but otherwise doing the same. This helps out a lot.I bought 5 new 245/65 17 tires for my Maverick, one for the spare. It fits the factory spare rim and fits under the truck.
That's good to know. I was just planning on buying the cheapest tire I could find that's the same size as what's on the truck and slapping that on the spare rim. No point in spending all the $$ on a tire that will almost never get used, but I don't want to risk getting stuck towing a trailer and having to use a half sized spare. Can confirm 245/65R17 Falken Wildpeak fits under bed in spare location. I tried 245/70R17 first and it was rubbing on the front wheel wells and did not fit in the spare location.
any hints about putting it back on? manual not helpful, can't find a video, the one take-off video shows some nut that has to be removed from under the bed. do you replace the nut when the spare is back in place? i don't have my truck yet, thanksi installed a 225 65 17 tire on the stock full size spare rim and it worked fine and fit under the truck but there was not a huge amount of extra room.
You don't remove the nut, it stays in place. Basically, you crank the spare down and crank it back up.any hints about putting it back on? manual not helpful, can't find a video, the one take-off video shows some nut that has to be removed from under the bed. do you replace the nut when the spare is back in place? i don't have my truck yet, thanks
there is a nut that needs to be loosened / removed that is on a teather ,you have to lower the winch and remove a plastic piece and tip the end on its side and reverse to put it back , i did it on the hoist in the air and it sucked to hold the tire up in the air and replace the thingany hints about putting it back on? manual not helpful, can't find a video, the one take-off video shows some nut that has to be removed from under the bed. do you replace the nut when the spare is back in place? i don't have my truck yet, thanks
I think it's not same size, but full size, meaning rated for>55. Sorta silly, but I didn't change my order. It'll be nice to know that I can safely drive on the highway after I change a flat.has anyone looked at the size of there full size spare tire , i changed oil yesterday and noticed my spare is a 215/60/17 it is about 2 in shorter than the 225/65/17 tires that are factory . i have called the dealer and thy are looking in to it , but that is not what i would call full
there is no "LX" model MaverickThis is what it looks like on the truck. The wheel weight was improperly mounted and caused my tire to go flat at 1000 miles. It looks to me like it's the same tire and steel wheel the LX comes with(?). I didn't look at the size when I had it mounted but it's definitely smaller.
Yep. The XL model. Feel better now?there is no "LX" model Maverick
