Ordering a new fully loaded 24 lariat hybrid. My dealer after he got done laughing said good luck.
Since most former major options are standard on the 24 Lariat it should be built no problem. Unless your dealer runs out of allocations.

If I was as angry at Ford as some posters here seem to be, I’d cancel my order, get my deposit back, and buy something else. My dealer was honest up front that it would probably be close to a year, at best, when I ordered in September ā€˜22. I’ll wait for a Maverick as long as it takes. There’s nothing else out there with the same features and price point as my XL hybrid. I do have sympathy for the people who have to buy a truck quickly. There’s almost no way to get a Maverick quickly and anywhere close to MSRP.
My dealer was spot on. Ordered last Sept and they estimated 9 months, and they were the only dealer near me that wasn’t tacking on 10% simply because they could. Picked it up May 31st. My only gripe was having to put 9 extra months and 10k more miles on my 2010 Wrangler (@14 mpg). That said, I love my XLT/FX4. No regrets.

What are my chances of asking the dealer for a free Ford roll up toneau because of the wait. Maybe he can get Ford to reimburse him?
Do new owners get the FIT package, or do we need to ask?

Free FITS was for a small window back in 2021. Since then, most orders get free fits waiting is all.

Weird, I had to throw my own fit.

But not a Honda Fit, don't quite have the strength to lift one of those little things in the air.

I don't think there in an incentive to cancel unless there is a reasonable alternative, but right now there isn't. I will likely cancel in the future, but I'm waiting to see how things play out for Ford and its competitors first.

Given that I'm fine with waiting, I'm not that mad at Ford, but I will say that it puts a bad taste in my mouth when my dealer calls, says "No info on when yours will be built, but we have one on the lot that's just like it that you could have for a 5-10k markup!"

My reason for cancelling is more down to a lack of an AWD hybrid model than anger at Ford, but I will say that the dealer hawking the marked up trucks while having order customers wait a very long time makes me slightly more likely to do so before the truck is built so they can't do the same with mine to someone else.

What I thought was a great situation turned south today with a horrible dealership in Granbury, TX.

I've been looking for an XLT Hybrid with the Lux pkg for months leaving messages with several dealerships in TX. Got a call late June from a sales rep with Shottenkirk Ford in Granbury, TX about a new Maverick that was in to be in production soon and the customer it was ordered for was no longer wanting. I pulled the trigger the next day on the vehicle and paid a $1000 deposit. I had a signed buyer's worksheet between me and the sales mgr on June 26th. Since then I've had phone conversations and exchanged text messages with them numerous times. The vehicle was shipped on or about July 3rd and the dealer received it on July 12th. I received an email from their service dept saying it has passed inspection yesterday and had a text message July 12th from them confirming that I could pick up the vehicle on Saturday, July 15th.

I had arranged to privately sell my current vehicle today and go to my bank to take care of a loan application.

About noon today I got a call from the sales rep stating that Ford made an error and the vehicle was previously committed to another customer of this same dealership. No explanation other than it was an issue with Ford.

I called Ford customer care and they said that this was a dealer issue and they had no control of the orders placed by the dealership.

I finally got a call from the GM and he said there was nothing he could do other than refund my deposit and the sales mgr would be reprimanded. He said all he could do is refund me my deposit. He also stated that this Maverick was a "stock order" placed in March of 2023, which seemed odd to me....thinking Ford was not accepting any new orders since Oct 2022. So, if it was a stock order, wouldn't this would have been for dealer inventory and not for a customer???

Personally, I think they found someone who would pay a $5k market adjustment in addition, which they tried on me when I first spoke to the sales rep. We later agreed to a "protection pkg and tint" at an extra $2490 just to get the deal done. I had heard the hybrids would be an extra $1500 in 2024, not to mention any price increase from 23 to 24.

So now I am back to ordering a 2024 on Monday, when order banks open. I'm ordering 2 from different local dealers here in town...Wish me luck!

Why would Ford or the dealer pay for that on a low margin vehicle? Maybe they will give you a Ford key chain.

Too bad you weren't there to see his nose growing. Dealers didn't get stock orders and Ford builds the orders the dealers send and try to make sure with COVP to match them to the original person ordering. But if the person walks away the dealer is suppose to cancel the order but most don't so they can sell for markup. You fell for a classic dealer scam. In the old days of Texas you would go in and teach the GM a lesson but even in Texas they unfortunately frown on that now.

Still better than a jab in the eye with a sharp stick.
