I'd say 27% less co2 emissions is pretty decent. maybe I misunderstood you but you seemed to be saying it wasn't that much reduction.
No not at all. It’s definitely something. My point was to that poster was. He stated we should have ethanol in fuel just because it lowers co2. He even states co2 is not bad. I was just pointing out that you can’t say that and then claim that the hybrid is the answer.
Basically can’t have it both ways. Either co2 is bad or it’s not.

From what I remember reading (in this forum, back when the '25s were first announced), it's a new "modular" engine style, common to many other vehicles, so it's an economy of scale thing, with less production variability.

If they could just get rid of E85 ethanol gasoline and go with clear gas (ethanol free), they wouldn't have to do all this. For a tiny amount of CO2 reduction (CO2 is not a harmful gas) you lose around 25% MPG that you would see with clear gas. There is no reason we should be using corn and sugar cane to make vehicle fuel when the U.S. has one of the largest reserves of oil in the ground ready to be tapped.
Well said and spot on. Common sense is a rarity these days.

Ethanol fuel isn't about emissions, but about subsidizing US farmer corn production and a slight reduction in US dependance on oil imports especially at points when oil prices were highest. Because all of that US oil in the ground is more valuable to ship to refineries overseas that rely on the higher quality of it, while US refineries are configured to efficiently process cheaper, lower quality oil from other countries (there's a reason that Chevron had a waiver on importing low-grade Venezuelan crude in spite of import sanctions). Very high percentage Ethanol also has the benefit of being high compression-knock resistant which is why the performance forced induction folks like E85 (or higher) and the prospect of the MPC engines being able to flow more fuel.

My Holley carburetor after about 10 years of using ethanol gas. I add ethanol cleaner and Sta-Bil every half a tank or so now.

Nasty looking crap. I haven't seen that in my Holley Carbs but i usually take them apart every year or two but not 10 years. :)

Why do you take them apart so often? I spray them with some Gumout carb cleaner before I change my oil. Also change my fuel filter every other year.

Does anyone know if this engine has a belt driven oil pump?

Appears to be gear-driven as part of the balance shaft assembly similar to the previous architecture.

Interesting video, Sam!
Question: why would Ford go to the expense of completely redesigning an engine, a redesign that provides almost no performance or fuel economy improvement?
Is the new engine cheaper to build?
I would guess that it's to increase the life expectancy of the engine (currently at about 160k miles) and make room for power increases. JMO

I knew something was up when I had to go to three different stores to find the right oil filter when I did my first oil change. Super frustrating!

Ford has been moving to the Modular Power Cylinder (MPC) engine architecture across the entire line-up. The 2.3L EB in the 2025 Ranger is also new and has port and direct fuel injection. One other thing that really hasn't been discussed is that these are manufactured in Dearborn, MI where the older 2.0L was primary produced in Spain, so it makes you wonder if there might also be some tariff savings.

According to Tim Bartz, there will be no GPF equipped Mavericks until Job 3 which starts production in July and... there will be no reduction in HP.

My 2025 LOBO has the new engine with port and combustion chamber fuel injection. The engine looks a lot different than the 2024 models.
My Mav was built in February '25.
