So I'm having my morning coffee reading the hybrid vs ecoboost cost comparison. Some are saying to factor in the cost of replacing the turbo into the equation, saying replacement is due at 100,000 miles. Some owners put this amount of miles on in 2-3 years. Are maverick owners replacing their turbos every 3 years?

First where is there any credited documentation saying the turbos need replaced like a maintenance item such as batteries. There is a huge difference not saying anything can break but a battery is a maintenance item , it will need to be replaced. Huge difference no comparison IMO.

Batteries are like tires and exhaust it's a guarantee they will need to be replaced.

OP in both instances this and the other thread are trolling. Especially not even comparing a Maverick hybrid vs a Maverick ecoboost until admitting or disclosing it later in the thread when the mpg mileage wasn't correct in comparing Maverick's

I had over 130k miles on my 2012 eb when I sold it, never had a single turbo or motor issue.

Good to hear, I was also worried about turbo failure.
You are more likely to be replacing batteries in the Hybrids Long before a turbo in the gas version. A buddy just sold his Prius that is 6 years old for that reason.

I have over 110k miles from fall of 2021 drive every day no noises or problems. As others have said already a turbo wouldn’t be considered a maintenance replacement like spark plugs/batteries/tires,etc…

Yeah, you were reading a bad source. Do turbo failures happen under 100k miles? Sure. Engine failure and hybrid battery failure can happen under 100k miles as well. Is it common? No.

How long do turbos last? 200-250k miles is typical in a well maintained vehicle.
Can you shorten the lifespan by not changing your oil or running the engine low on oil? Sure, but your engine lifespan is going to be decreased in proportion with the damage to the turbo.

These wild claims are just that, wild claims. No evidence to back up the claims.

Just like the vast majority of hybrid owners won't be replacing their batteries at 100k miles....

The vast majority of EcoBoost owners won't be replacing their turbos at 100k miles either.
