I took delivery of my XL a couple weeks ago. I recently noticed that the tires were filled to 50 psi by the dealer but the recommended is 35. Do I need to take air out?

No you should be totally fine.

YES, take the pressure back down to under 40 at least.
Also, double check with a pressure gage. It could just be that your sensors aren't reading correctly.

The tires are over inflated for transport. The dealership is supposed to correct the pressure during the pre-delivery preparations. Obviously, they didn't do that. Neither did my dealership. My Falkens are currently at 35 to 37 psi on any given day, depending on the temperature. I would definitely let some air out until you are around 35 psi. 😬

For optimal performance you want to be at the recommended 35psi. I'd check with a manual tire gauge just to be sure the sensors aren't playing tricks on you(which they probably aren't but better safe than sorry) :)

Tires are always overfilled at delivery in case the vehicle ends up sitting.

Just take the pressure down (and use a tire gauge because the app thing isn't a real time readout and doesn't immediately update)

No, go back to your dealer and have them actually do the PL/PD work this time. And start looking for a more competent dealer.

This is a common problem covered on this site several times. The Rail car transporters require all 4 tires to be around 50-55 psi to keep trucks security chains tight on the bumpy train cars. My dealer knew this but had a new trainee doing the pre-delivery inspection and he over looked the tire pressure that was supposed to be 35 psi. After a 100 miles of bouncing along a freeway called the dealer who admitted their trainee screwed up.

I started looking around on the app to see what everything was and looked at the tire pressure monitoring.
I'm surprised the harsh ride didn't alert you.

It's sound advice to verify pressure at each tire with a quality gauge. It's not uncommon for the TPMS readings to be off either direction by as much as 5 psi. Mine reads too low, another MTC member indicates his reads high. So, get a baseline to understand the accuracy of your TPMS, then set pressure accordingly, per your tire info sticker, with a quality gauge.

It hasn't been the smoothest ride, but I did not know what to expect from an inexpensive truck. I'll get some air taken out. Thank you.

It will ride much smoother after you correct it to 35.

Don't have anything to add on suggestions. This post brought me back to my years as a salesman in the Ford business. Our dealer was empathic to the pre-delivery dept to deflate to normal pressures. He knew that vehicles would ride rough on a demo ride. This was in the 70s and 80s so a long-time issue in the business.

Mines were at 40 PSI when I got it from the dealers last December, but I left it at 40 because of the cold weather. Once things warm up by the end of the month I plan on reducing them to 35 PSI.
