I set mine to 35psi in the spring. They fluctuate between 40 and 30 psi depending on ambient temperature. I find it perfect. 40 in summer heat (highway/ashphalt) and 30 in winter (snow/ice).

I suggest you find your sweet spot and forget about it.

Toyo 245/65-17 Open Country tires.
245's is the sweetest spot!

I routinely "overinflate" the front tires by 3-5 psi since most vehicles have 60% or more of the total vehicle weight on the front tires. And the front tires do most of the stopping and turning.

I've never understood why there are separate front and rear pressure specs on the door placard, yet they are always the same psi.

This thread reminds me of an oil thread 🙄

Since the OP stated he had the service done by the dealer, I would think his tires should have been set correctly to the recommended pressure on that sticker in the door jam. Thereby eliminating the need for fiddling around with the pressure.

Totally agree! Same here, never had uneven wear.

Not every vehicle is the same front and rear. My wife had a Lexus sports coupe that called for different pressures front and rear, of course it also had different size tires front and rear.

Reminds me of arguing with the "technician" at the tire shop about ordering new sneakers... he insisted the tires were the same front and rear, even after I suggested he go look and write down the tires sizes from the sidewalls 🙄

I bought the new tires elsewhere ......

I'd say a very small percentage of dealers will mess with your air pressure at service...unless you ask them to. They've never reverted to the door jamb on any of my service visits in the last 15 years. And I always run more than the posted pressure on the door.

I chalk my tires, and that's where they get set. For the maverick on the stock 19s, they are at 37. My Jeep on 38s is set at 24psi.

I understand the lack of service prevalent nowadays. But the OP stated they had "the works" done at the dealer, so I'll offer the following right from Ford's website...

Go for The Works®
Get a $20 rebate or earn 5,000 Ford Rewards bonus Points on The Works® Package.2

Replace Oil and Filter With Synthetic Blend Oil
Tire Rotation and Pressure Check
Brake Inspection
Vehicle Checkup
Fluid Top-Off
Battery Test
Filter Check
Belts and Hoses Check

...Myself personally, if I'm paying for a service I expect it to be performed -- unless I specifically tell you not to.

Be sure to change your tire air (use nitrogen) every time you change your oil, at 3250-mile intervals.
I use a blend with 78% nitrogen for tire air. I don't bother with flush/fill. Seems to be fine. And it's free.

Sometimes I tow. Sometimes I don't. Oil change frequency depends on the ratio of the two. I go by the Mav's oil life display. "It knows when you've been towing... It knows when you have not..."

For sure….if that’s quoted in the Works… yeah I’d make sure they did it too. I have the “service plan” which gives me 10 free oil changes. I know they rotate the tires and maybe they do check the pressure….but I’ve never asked them to.

Now you people are getting me pissed off, I don’t know who to believe or not to believe anymore! 🤣 I’m going out to Check my tire pressure, oil, and door locks! 🤪

This really shouldn't be more than $100, which I already feel is pushing it. The main things are a proper oil/filter change and topping off the fluids (mostly washer, for your convenience).

If you're willing to do your own oil changes and take the used oil to recycle, these will give you a change for $36:

https://www.walmart.com/ip/seort/935258375 gives you 2.1 oil changes for a 2.5 hybrid

https://www.walmart.com/ip/seort/33678518 1 oil filter...

A lot of the "The Works" fluff is stuff that your dealer may or may not do, depending on the dealer and may not even be called out in the service schedule. The list is long to make you think you're getting real value. Even the name was contrived to convey that impression.

Rotate your tires with every second oil change, or ~10k miles (note my comment about towing - if f you're towing a lot, just rotate your tires with the closest oil change to 10k miles. The 10k guideline is just for convenience based on 5k oil changes).

10k rotation should be generous. If there seem to be any wear problems, get it aligned (and address that if you whack a big pothole or other obstacle that gives a grievous abrupt insult to your suspension at speed).

...and absolutely do not waste your money on nitrogen tire fills. That's one of the biggest scams of many in the auto service industry if you happen to use a predator to service your vehicle (There are many honest shops out there. Get to know them.)

So sure, pay for "The Works" if you don't mind giving the dealer the extra $$, and sit around in their waiting room (coffee, comfort of the chairs and guest wireless quality varies wildly) for a couple of hours. You're just feeding the model that allows them to continue this scam.

...well, the air we breathe is about 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 1% argon, and trace gasses (carbon dioxide is a trace gas, but it has a huge effect on atmospheric greenhouse effects with changes in its small concentration).

The snake-oil "fill-your-tires-with-nitrogen" claim is just snake oil. It's like selling magnets to put on your domestic water supply line to reduce scale. There is absolutely no factual basis for asserting that it has value.

Changing your oil at appropriate intervals is, however, very important. If the engine is running at a higher load, as in towing, the oil should be changed more frequently. The Mav (as least with 4k Tow) keeps track of that, and uses it in calculating the remaining oil life. I trust that. It is heuristically determined. "Change your oil every XXXX miles" is just a superstition with the modern systems in the Mav, and doesn't give you reliable information. If you were towing constantly, you should probably change at 1-2k (it will let you know).

The only advantage to 100% nitrogen is better temperature stability. But I would not pay for it.

For daily driving on paved roads, staying on the higher end of your manufacturer’s recommendation (usually found on the sticker inside the driver’s door) offers several perks:

Better Fuel Economy
Reduced Heat Buildup
Sharper Steering
Load Carrying
