I post this in all these threads, must've missed this one.

p 346 in my owner's manual. RTFM. Read the Full Manual

Use the recommended cold
inflation pressure for optimum tire
performance and wear.
Under-inflation or over-inflation
may cause uneven treadwear
patterns.
Inflate your tires to the
recommended inflation pressure
even if it is less than the maximum
inflation pressure information
found on the tire. You can find the
tire label with the recommended
tire inflation pressure next to the
tire size on the B-Pillar or the edge
of the driver door.
The recommended tire inflation
pressure is also found on the
Safety Compliance Certification
Label, affixed to either the door
hinge pillar, door-latch post, or the
door edge that meets the
door-latch on the B-pillar, or on
the edge of the driver door.
Failure to follow the tire pressure
recommendations can cause
uneven treadwear patterns and
adversely affect the way your
vehicle handles.

What I have learned since then is that the dealership should have prepped my vehicle before my purchase and lowered the high factory PSI down to the recommended level of 35.

Something funny. The door sticker on my XLT Hybrid says tire pressure should be 34 psi. My tires say 44 psi. My pressure indicator on the info system confirms they are 44 psi. Obviously, 44 is correct, but why did I get a sticker with a normal car tire pressure listed? Annoying.
What is normal car tire pressure? My full size truck recommends 35 psi.

There is no "normal" car tire pressure. Each car (or truck) has a recommended pressure that is normally printed on the door sticker, and varies according to the kind of tire mounted, the weight of the vehicle, and its expected "normal" load. The pressure listed on the tire, as others here have already noted, is the "maximum" pressure recommended, not the "normal" tire pressure. Running your vehicle at the maximum pressure all of the time will result in uneven wear, a shorter tire life, and could possibly result in safety issues, depending on the surface over which the vehicle is being driven.

Ok, but do we know why the factory is putting in the maximum pressure, and why the dealership doesn't let some of the pressure out before we pick up our trucks?
I was in the car business and was told they do it for shipment so the tires don't flat spot when they tie down the truck for shipping.

Many dealerships DO let some air out.
Many. Not all. I had to adjust mine. I did have a full tank and full wiper fluid for my lot lizard.

There seems to be a lot of misconception of what maximum tire pressure is. As tire pressure changes, side wall flex changes. The change in side wall flex changes the spring rate of the tire. When the tire pressure is increased above the maximum pressure the spring rate no longer changes.

This reminds me I need to replace the air in my tires. Always a good idea for preventative maintenance... That winter air is cold.

Another perspactive of tire pressure is that the springiness of the tires is part of the total suspension concept. The springs and shock absorbers, or struts as the design may be, absorb the small dips and humps in the road, up to a few inches, and the tires absorb the smaller bumps the size of little rocks and sticks and stuff that hit faster than the springs can react. Too much air does not let the tires do their part. Perfect roads as smooth as train tracks would not need tires like trains do not need tires. Then there are the other tradeoffs like underinflation blowouts, ability to corner and brake, gas mileage, speed range, min and max load, etc. Trust the Ford design engineers. Their numbers on the door post are usually optimal!

Use door or pillar vin decal the 44 is a delivery pressure only

I think 35 psi is the norm basically now, my Mav, wife’s Honda, 35 all around. My older Camaro says 26psi on T/A’s but I still put 35 all around cold, wear is perfect.

My DD, i run 2PSI under what Ford requests for my EcoSport - 33psi - The tires are wearing evenly and with 40,000 miles have 7/32 still left on them. 205/55/17 - if I run them at 35PSI the centers will wear out faster. The best way to check inflation is after driving a while if possible use a laser temp and measure inside/middle/outside of tread to see if temp is even
