You also may have a Windshield Doctor in your area. They are very economical and will fix it with a guarantee not to spread. I have used them many times.

Here in BC Canada our insurance companies will pay outright to get a chip fixed cause in the long run they will save money instead of a full windshield replacement, nice!

I bought this ($11) in anticipation of my inevitable first nick…haven’t used it yet though:

If you don't feel like going to DIY route which is what I normally do for small ones like you're talking you can buy kits on Amazon that'll fix it just as good as safe light.

Or you can go through your insurance if you have zero comprehensive like I do and it won't cost any extra.

I've had safe light due to repairs on small rock cracks about a quarter of an inch spider, and I can still visibly see them. Whereas the ones I've DIY'd with the Amazon kit I purchased for $30 you can't even see them anymore and they've been holding tight for nearly 6 months now.

What Chops posted above. I ordered the same Rain-X kit from Amazon. $13 bucks. I'm on chip number 4 on the original 2024 Mav windshield. All four did it myself with the kit. None have spread AT ALL. Just make sure you follow the directions....very simple. I'd do it on a sunny day so the last step cures it good with the clear sheet over it. Watch a YouTube video on how to use it. I'll get a new windshield some day....but GLAD I didn't run right out on the first hit. For what it's worth...2 of my 4 hits came from the same truck WAY ahead of me. There was loose gravel on the road from construction. My daughter and her husband both took hits the same week from the same stretch of highway. It's been cleaned off since then. Another thing to note. I fixed my daughter's hit and her husband's car and truck with the same kit. That's 7 total and I still have resin left for more. If you have any specific questions about the Rain-X kit, post back and let me know.

Take it to a windshield repair place to have it fixed. They can do a vacuum injection that will seal it and stabilize it. That way it won’t crack all across the windshield requiring complete replacement.

Yesterday I received a small rock to the windshield that left a tiny little nick. We're talking about 4 or 5 mm at the most. It hasn't started spreading just one mark almost round in shape but very small. What is my best course of action? Can I go ahead and address the problem before it gets worse? If I take it to a place that replaces and repairs windshields are they just going to tell me that I have to wait until it gets bigger before they can do anything?
I had the same thing glass company came out and fixed it he can barely notice it he did a great job

Thanks I called 2 places and both of them acted like it was too small for them to worry with right now and to call them and it got bigger.

Bigger will be too late. By then it could crack across the whole windshield. Had it happen.

Wife had a nick in her windshield back in the 2010s. I took her vehicle to the local glass shop and they filled it with their epoxy for a $20. It never spread. All the windshields I ever replaced were the ones that I didn't catch soon enough.

within the first few months of ownership i got a nick in my windshield of my '25 lariat, it was small enough that I maybe couldve left it but also something I could spot immediately.

I got a diy chip repair off amazon

https://amzn.to/3OfkMxe

and did it myself to prevent any future issues, it didn't make it completely invisible, but fixed it like 90%. Now it kinda looks like a small spec on a dirty windshield. I can still find where it is, but I have to briefly look for it vs spotting it right away.

It was super easy to do, and gave me the piece of mind that it has that much more chance of not spreading. It's been about 5 months and it looks the same as when I fixed it.

I had one of the work vehicles get a windshield chip, decent size, but not huge. Took it to a pro glass shop, they charged $60 to fix it and honestly it doesn't look amazing, I thought the pros would do a much better job, but I should've just spent $10 on a diy kit for that as well instead, but that time it wasn't my money. Maybe my expectations for it were too high.

Have it repaired ASAP. This happened to us recently on our caravan. 45 bucks at our local glass repair shop.

I did too a few years ago. Unfortunately I keep getting the same answer from glass repair shops. It has to be a certain size before they will do anything. If I can fix it myself I'll do it

Some auto insurance policies will cover windshield chip repairs as a no-cost no-reported-claim benefit of the coverage. They would probably rather pay out a rock chip repair than a whole new windshield if it gets to that point if the chip repair wasn't done in a timely manner.
I've had many chips filled by insurance. ZERO cost and the glass guys do it in the parking lot at work, your driveway, ect.
