Haha! But here are the "perfect" lyrics in a country western song, written by John Goodman, performed here by David Allan Coe, (among many others). Have to listen to the entire song to get to the 'gist".
Too much twang. I had to stop 5 seconds in.

If I see you passing me, I want you to get by me as expeditiously as possible....usually, it is just canceling the CC for a minute to allow you to get by and then I re-engage the CC and continue along my way behind you.

PS: I will say something like, "Go get 'em tiger!" when you go by, but you didn't hear me since my windows are rolled up.
I might mis read your lip movement and Assume road rage!😳

Obviously the OP lives in an area where driving 55 is an option. As I recall in the early 70's or thereabouts the speed limit was lowered to 55 even on interstates to conserve fuel. Not sure of the date.

I might have to smoke crack, Chief, to live in an area where other drivers are consistently doing 90 on a U.S. road system with no apparent speed limit enforcement. My 6 cents!😉
i
always drive 55 when i smoke crack.

Wouldn’t be the "perfect country song" without the twang.
“I was drunk
the day my mom
got out of prison…"
What happens when you play a country song backwards?

Your wife doesn't leave you,
Your dog doesn't die,
And you get your pickup truck back.

The speed limit is a maximum speed, unless otherwise posted
I think it can vary by state, but yes there are "Speed Limit" signs and "Maximum Speed" signs in California, and technically mean different things - although 99% of drivers are clueless to the sign, let alone the difference.

I'd be smoking Crack if I lived with those speeds every day. I remember driving in California in the two per car lane doing 85 beside a solid lane of stopped traffic, and thinking that this is absolute craziness.

Thread inspired me to think about a Sat trip to a wedding, 40 min Google estimate to rural city on 70-75 mph highway, or we made it 50 min with half being 55 mph back road, with a couple slow-down cities in there, still 10 min early. No cruise - tried to eek benefit from slight rolling hills.
Could have really made it scenic and taken 45 mph non-highway road for the first half.
Flattish KS though, still had trouble helping my tank's 39.4 mpg avg at half tank.

I think I'll give more consideration to those longer abouts 1 hr drives, where an extra 5-10 min isn't much to worry about. Unless son is running late.

Probably works well in a Hybrid. They're made for higher city fuel economy so it makes sense the slower speed would generate 20% I've traveled on US 30 in Iowa several times where there is both 2 and 4 lane sections and found at best I'll get 1 mpg better in the 55 zone (driving 60) than I do in the 65 zones (driving 70) Hitting the toll road at the beginning or end of the trip in Illinois will cost me 1 mpg as well, driving 75. I've see 34 mpg at 60 per and just under that at 70 but both times were with a stiff tail wind!

My F150 Ecoboost was very different. Best fuel economy by far was at 55/60. Once I hit 70+, it cost 3 sometimes 4 mpg! These little Utes are really stingy with gas consumption!

But, hey, if you have the time and feel like taking it, please don't camp in the passing lanes. Just stay in the right lane so we can pass!

To those in the right lane, don't forget to say, 'Go get 'em tiger!.' as we pass. 😂😂
