Ok guys (and gals), I'm stumped. '25 XL here and wanting to replace backups with LEDs. Got the 2 screws out and for the life of me I can't get the assemblies to pop out, either one of them. I'm pulling, prying straight out to the side and they will not pop out. I'm using a plastic trim tool to pry with and I'm just afraid I'm either going to crack a housing or dent the fender. Yes, prying that hard.
Anybody got any tips for this? Thanks!

The pins are at an angle. Pull at about 45 degrees, not directly back or to the side.

You can also try to wedge the plastic trim tool between the housing and bedside, then pivot the lamp out to the side -- it usually falls right out. It shouldn't take much force at all.

Ok, thanks guys. The plastic trim tool is the exact one I was using, however I was trying to pry straight out to the side, not at the angle.
Also looks like I need to do a better job at proof reading my posts. Twilight?

MINE WERE VERY HARD TO PULL OUT TO. I never found the correct light bulbs for backup light, i had to modify some that I received, the " tongue" was too wide. They have been working since installation

Since the grommets that the studs lock into are plastic, I'd bet this cooler weather doesn't help any. Less flex.
I'm going to try again later today and see what I can accomplish....

Bob,
I was trying to figure out what Twilights were whether they were mood lighting or not. 😆
You can edit the TITLE from twilight to tail lights.

You, the starter, can edit the title of your first post.

Anything I'm going to try doing I look at Youtube first. Lots of videos of removing the tail lights.

And it's very easy, no tools other than a screwdriver required to loosen hardware. Done it several times when I put LEDs in, and when I switched back to the OEM after the LEDs died.
