If the cables were truly a "problem", Ford would have matched them all up better. But it truly sounds like it's on every truck.

People can swap one with another truck so they're both the same length on each truck....

FYI this is my 10 year old ram and believe me I have loaded this thing to the brim with lumber without ruining the tailgate. It actually sits a tad high. I didn't have my level handy but you get the idea.

Love those old T100s. There is a good chance that it was level when new but the cables don't really stretch like you might think they would.

I wonder if Maverick production is any worse than any other new vehicle, or if it's just that people are paying more attention and talking about it more because of the build-to-order process.

I understand that issues come up. It could very well be a normal amount of issues for the Ford Maverick.

What irks me is that Ford has had down time to work out kinks that they typically never have. The Hermosillo factory has been closed for weeks at a time. Thousands of hybrids have been sitting in Hermosillo for months able to be inspecte

Let’s not forget Ford knows trucks better than anyone. I wouldn’t expect issues with the tailgate and bed liner application process. The uneven tailgate has been pointed out in reviews for months and hasn’t been addressed as intentional or an error.

My God another F-up from Ford. Built Ford tough! It looks like crap with the tail gate hanging lower. These are brand new trucks for gods sake. No attention to detail, I agree with the carpenter ...come on Ford! WAKE UP!

I’m a former automotive engineer and now aerospace and I believe that it is likely that way for a reason. The reason being to shift the bulk of load carrying away from the tailgate. Just a hunch. I noticed it immediately in the first photos I saw. Seeing it still bothers me from an asthetic standpoint.

This, and you are supposed to strap / tie your load down so I really don't know what the problem is TBH.

I just emailed these guys. I would buy two sets for both positions if it was necessary. It looks like they may require some drilling... Which may not be everyone's idea of a solution.

Great Product Find!! I think I would only need the long ones for minor tailgating/fishing events. I am a big guy and with the bars installed, I would feel more comfortable about sitting on my gate. I have added the url to my Ford Maverick folder on my Desktop. This is where I am keeping all of my aftermarket fixes and upgrades I have found since ordering my CO Mav. Hybrid.

My fix. Don't move the tailgate down. Always keep in the upright position and it will always look level.

I presume that with enough customer complaints and service tickets opened, Ford will eventually provide the correctly dimensioned cables. If not, the aftermarket will step in.

As the title suggests, the cables are too long and the tailgate is not level with the bed. It is also not level with the wheel wells when in the half-up position.

People have pointed this out before reacting to pictures and I assumed it was optical illusion but my Sola don't lie.

I'm a mid aged retired veteran and appreciate you sharing. If no one shares their experience/knowledge, this site is useless to me.
