Suggestions for a tailgate mat?

I'm going with the "terrible" hard plastic on my future Maverick just like on my F series. Over ten yrs of use it's proven durability, ease of loading and unloading make it my easy pick.
Undecided on the bed floor covering at this point, not plastic for sure.

I went with durable hard plastic for tailgate which permit easy loading and unloading. The rubber Maverick bed mat to hold things in place.

I highly recommend a bed rug. Love mine. Covers the bed and tailgate. Easy on the knees

I much prefer a rubber mat vs rug/carpet. I have the Ford bed mat with a "Cat" tailgate mat.

Got the rubber one from ford. Used pass points to buy it. I like it says Maverick on it. $135 + tax. Took one month to come in.
SIBL from factory too.

I ended up using some gym flooring mats which I 3M double side taped to the tailgate surface.

My only concern is whether or not it will tear eventually.

I had a hard plastic FoMoCo gate cover on my 1910 Ranger. I liked it because you could easily slide things in and out of the bed.
The tackier surface of these mats won’t allow that.

Oh well, had some spare mats so it didn’t cost me too much to do this.

There were some horror stories concerning the Ford plastic cover, specifically the hardware. Anybody bought one recently? Has Ford resolved this issue?

Get the same thing as the Ford branded one from WalMart. Much cheaper, same thing.
