Need suggestions for weather-stripping the tailgate

I have a retractable tonneau cover that I love. However, the tailgate has some serious gaps in it (one side more than the other). I'm am not a handy person, but figure that I could do something like putting weather-stripping to help with the gaps.

I'd prefer something made in the US or Canada. I'd rather not buy it on Amazon because there are too many low quality goods flooding it these days. What size and length would I need? Any special tools? Like I said, I'm not a handy person. Any suggestions?

I watched a million YouTube videos and bought this tailgate seal kit. I comes with two sizes of adheasive seal. If I had to do it over I'd get a second roll of the LARGE size to help bridge some of the large gaps. I haven't had any issues with the adhesive failing, I did a very extensive paint cleaning before I installed it.

Lot's of gaps:

Remove the tail gate to get good access:

I put weatherstripping on both edges (tailgate and bed)

I get very very minimal dust and water intrusion.

Probably some room for improvement but over all I'm very happy with the product's longevity (1.5 yrs) and the general installation.

I got a roll of this exact product and it doesn't even begin to get a good seal. Not thick enough. Anyone else try this and see what I'm seeing?
