Here's Edmund's 1 year review of their fleet that includes the Maverick... spoiler alert: it's their favorite vehicle in a review that includes an almost $90,000 car.

Now consider the tech. Toyota is still using old engine designs. I get the if it ain’t broke don’t fix it but taco mpg’s suck.
Partially because the Tacoma is now another bloated pick up. Effectively taking it out of the
‘Mini truck’ category.

Compare the Tacoma to the Ranger,
The Ford Ranger beats the crap out of the Tacoma for value and bang for the buck.

Back in the day customers were smart. An auto maker raises the price smart buyers would walk away, not buy it.
Pretty much every one was a smart consumer.
Dealer gets backed up, he cries to corporate,
Dealer gets the needed incentives to lower the price. Vehicles start selling again.

Now days these younguns just gotta have the latest thing and gotta gave it NOW ! They don’t know shit about quality or supply and demand. They pay,
Then prices go up more.

Retailers have us by the balls because we as consumers open our fly and say,
‘I want, I want, how much is the payment ?
Six year payments,, Give me give me.

Then these people bitch about price increases, that they partially caused.”
I will agree with you on this as well. I do definitely think that car companies jack up the price for things that certain individuals want. Now do I think it’s a good concept that the maverick allows people to create parts for their car? Yes. I do not agree with the price and I don’t think it’s a good decision to make everything inside of that car plastic. You want something that relies on comfort. Something that makes people want to drive places all the time or travel with it. Most people use that car as kind of a city focused vehicle where they can go get groceries or they can pick up some project pieces. But I wouldn’t say there’s a great overwhelming number of people that use it for a daily driver or for travel. Not saying that it doesn’t happen. But I would say if everything I’ve read online from many different people and many different places that most people use a different car for traveling.

The other thing I would say is a major problem is if you’re going to offer a car or a truck or a vehicle of any sorts you would want them to at least have a base model of features that would make people want that car. We’ve already talked about the seats to kingdom come. What I focus on on this one is the fact when you don’t have anything with soft leather or soft fabric or maybe metal trim or something that makes that car a little more intriguing and when you don’t have an amplifier or even an amplifier with a bass ingrained in it you’re essentially selling a vehicle that is a $20,000 vehicle for much more than it’s worth. If it doesn’t have lumbar support and it doesn’t have to have power lumbar support but if it doesn’t have lumbar support even with a crankshaft or it doesn’t have power mirrors what is really the point?

Now I do think Toyota has raised their prices but when I have test driven the Toyota versus test driving the Ranger I just felt like the Toyota Tacoma was a much more comfortable ride. I felt like it was a much better drive. The lumbar support and the heated seats were so much better than they were in the range. In fact I will go as far as to say that the Maverick has more space internally than the Ranger does. Now my problem with the car has never been space. Never. I can have a load of space to move around in or whatever that’s never been the problem but take for instance I used to have a Nissan for eight years and I loved the seats but Nissan as a quality has gone downhill recently and they’re in talks to potentially be bought out by Honda and their Titan truck has gone away in the frontier even though it has comfortable seats is narrower than the maverick is now the Ford F150 is spacious and it has good seats and it’s a nice drive. But the price is higher. And you don’t get as good gas mileage.
The Honda Ridgeline is also much more comfortable and has more space but you also don’t get as much gas mileage but as opposed to the F150 which are two different trucks because one is a full-size and one is a midsize the amount of gas that you get on board is less in the Ridgeline.

I brought this up in a previous post. The bronco sport is much more comfortable than the Maverick is. Now at the same time the bronco sport also has a lot of plastic just like the Maverick does. So if we’re going to compare comfort one verse the other the bronco is going to win every single time. But if we’re gonna talk about the overall vehicle just like this video is referencing neither of them are going to be as good because it is predominantly hard plastic

Now I’m not saying as a whole that Ford does it by themselves. If you’ve test driven any other vehicle around there they are certain dealerships that are focusing more towards plastic. Now it may not be as egregious as Ford does it but there are dealerships that do it. Take for instance Mazda. A lot of their dash and their controls are plastic. A lot of of the vehicles out there including the Hyundai well at least for the Santa Cruz or that same way.

The issues I have with the Maverick are well documented I’ve stated it before I’ve also mentioned it in this post independent of even talking about the seat situation but yes I do agree that certain vehicles are made cheaper. In fact I definitely think more than not cars these days are made to breakdown faster than old days. You bring me back to the 1980s when it was much better and the cars were built sturdier that will be better. Shit when I was driving back in the 90s the cars were better. I feel like just like cell phone companies car manufacturers build their cars to breakdown after a certain amount of years.

I’ve already seen that video.. Whereas it does have its moments on there, I do trust Edmunds as a company but at the same time I do take the words of other people who have a different opinion. When you pigeonhole yourself to be believing one thing only one thing then you don’t have a full view of the vehicle. I’ve said this in many other posts. I wanted the Maverick for years. It was a car I looked at and wanted so I was excited to get it. I was excited to start customizing it at the beginning. But the longer I sat through it in the worst things got the worst it turned out to me and the more you find the small things that wouldn’t normally bother everybody start to tick me off. Like all this plastic. I came from a Nissan that had leather around the vehicle soft leather and it’s probably fake but it was softer and it was more comfortable whereas now all I look around the vehicle is plastic plastic plastic

Let me ask you something further. Now I’ve talked to many different people about this vehicle. I’ve talked to people who are thin, those who are fit. I’ve talked to people who are grossly overweight. I’ve talked to people who were heavier than grossly overweight. For me I’m a little over average but I’m not thin and I’m not grossly overweight. The point is is this. More people than not who I have talked to have mentioned issues with their car. Various issues. All right some people have mentioned the seats. Some people have mentioned the sound quality. Some people have mentioned the drive. Some people have mentioned the stiff handling. Some people have mentioned the turning radius. I could go on. You have all seen my issues with the car. Now granted I feel like with my background of being a bodybuilder and developing injuries overtime that affect me to this day if a part of the car is exaggerating it don’t you think I would want to change that up to make sure that I am more comfortable in that car or change the vehicle itself? Do you think it would be a smart idea to ride in pain every day? Do you think it’s a smart idea that if a car is predominantly looking like it’s a $20,000 car with plastic everywhere that it’s something that would intrigue me long-term?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again the XL trim was a $20,000 value car that has been bumped up to $30,000.

Personally if I was in charge of the vehicle pricing the XL trim at most would be $22,000. That’s what I bought mine for but pricing nowadays it’s at 28,000. The hybrid version of the XL trim would go for $23,500. The XLT would go for 25,000. The hybrid version of the XLT would go for 26,500. The Lobo would go for 28,000 period the lariat would go for 30,000. The lariat hybrid would go for 31,000.

That’s what it should cost. There’s no reason that the lariat should cost you $40,000 plus. There’s no reason that the XL trim with a basic everything in mind you many other vehicles on their base trim have power mirrors things like that there’s no reason that it cost $28-$30,000

The vehicle has so much plastic it’s ridiculous. Next to no other substance. Thin padding. Shitty speakers (low wattage). No amplifier. Short seats that are nowhere near comfortable at all. Manual side mirrors. Seats only have the ability to go up down forward and backwards. It doesn’t tilt anywhere. There is no lumbar support. Doesn’t have a very good pick up in terms of when you accelerate it struggles to want to go faster. A 20k vehicle at most being charged near 30k.
That is quite the bitch session. I've read a number of threads that you have stated your complaints, and more back and forth where you play the victim and are being bullied. Why don't you sell the truck and leave the rest of us in our misery, in our totally inadequate vehicles?
Don't respond, I'll no longer entertain your level of conversation.

This is what I mean by my previous responses where the post has absolutely nothing to do specifically with seats and then for some reason a comment is made that turns it back towards the seat discussion. That is not what this post is about.
Go back and Read Post 7!! Was that not You talking about the uncomfortable seats?

I’m not playing victim at all Einstein. This entire post has nothing to do with me personally. But apparently some of you can’t read nor decipher meanings behind the post. This was a post from a reviewer on YouTube. Not me. The reviewer on YouTube. I posted the video but you guys do not want to see the other side of the coin. Instead do you like to turn around and complain about me making posts on this site. Just like the other guy said below in just like I’ve said before on this forum. If you don’t like it, you can either scroll past it or you can block me. Either way. This way you don’t have to read it or complain about the fact that I’m making posts, and I don’t have to see you

But let me guess you’re gonna come back and say oh it’s about the seats again. Like you do it every single one of my posts when they have no focus on the seats you like to turn it that way anyway because that’s what you guys like to do

Sometimes I skip a thread, sometimes I skip posts.
I've never found a reason to ignore a thread or a member. Even when forbidden subjects are discussed before the thread gets locked.

Go back and Read Post 7!! Was that not You talking about the uncomfortable seats?
Go read the original post. And no this was not me talking about the seats. Go read the other responses. It doesn’t take much effort to put one and one together. You can’t just turn around the conversation and say oh it’s about the seat seats. That’s not what this post was about. It’s not even in the subject line yet for some reason you guys love to turn it back that way and then turn it around and say hey look he’s writing another post about seat seats again. That’s what you guys do. That’s not what this post is about but that’s what you guys do

Do it! It’s almost like I said to do that in another post. I specifically stated you could either scroll by me or scroll past the post or not even read it. Or you could ignore me. It’s funny how you come back now onto this post and then make that statement. I’m just waiting for the next poster to come around and state that this entire post was about the seats. It’s not but I fully expect to have that happen.

I had a 2023 BS BB and don't think it was more comfortable than the Maverick XLT I have now.
