Would a loose driveshaft bolt cause movement where the CV connects to the transmission
Hope you have better luck than I’ve had so far. I’ve had quite a few conversations with Ford Customer Service and the local Ford dealership but so far have had a lot of talk and no action.Curious as to what your mileage is.
Appreciate the input! They probably didn’t check it because it’s easier to say “there’s a lift on it, so that’s why you are having the issue” instead of properly diagnosing it. When I took it in I was supposed get the airbag recall done… but they forgot to order the airbag. Had the appointment for over a month and the service manager also called me the day before to let me know it would be better to drop off since the airbag replacement would take a few hours. Going to talk with the master tech when I go back to actually get the airbag replaced. Hopefully they are a reasonable person.I have work as an auto technician/ mechanic for the city of NY for 30 years . Judging from what I see on your video it seems to me that you have a bad transmission case bearing you said they did not check that bearing and I wonder why. The other side did not produce that amount of play. I don't know what there specification is on normal play. It's hard to make a diagnosis just from a video. Check it again.![]()

I’m not sure how the tune would cause the issue. The tune might be something they state is a modification so I might pull it back until after Ford takes a look at it. Are you noticing anything specific about the symptoms? Coming from one side vs the other? Coming from the front? Are you getting a clunking noise when you hit bumps, or rock the truck back and forth at low speed? The theory with mine is that it’s the case bearing. More about this above in the thread.Hey guys. Im freaking out a little bit after noticing the same wobble feeling at 30-40 mph speeds in my eco boost. I have no lift and im at about 18k miles but having the same symptoms. I was worried my Cobb AP tune was the issue now its looking like there’s something else going on? Do you folks suggest I unflash the tune until I get resolved?
First thing-- Check everything for loosenessI have a 2022 Lariat AWD 2.0 EcoBoost with ~900 miles that has an intermittent slight low speed wobble. In doing a search here I haven’t seen much on this issue so I thought maybe a thread specific to this topic would help. The shimmy seems to be more prevalent between 20-30 mph. It’s not a vibration like an out of balance tire nor is it a steering wheel wobble. It’s felt more in the seat and floor than in the steering wheel. Dealership couldn’t replicate the shimmy so they checked the rear wheel balance and sent me on my way. The tire pressures were all at 44psi so I lowered to 35psi. No real difference.
I’ve seen on a couple of threads here where some were having a similar problem where a lift had been added. Some dealers were blaming the aftermarket lift, but when the lift was removed the problem remained. My truck has no lift. One dealer found a “warped drive” and ordered parts but at this time the poster wasn’t sure what parts were order for the repair.
Is anyone having a similar issue?
Lmao. What a terrible response. "We can't find what's wrong with it, even though it's just a parts bin vehicle, and we also can't tell you why other vehicles with the same parts from the bin don't have this issue."UPDATE: Another Maverick Lariat come into the dealership for a 5,000 mi oil change that has the same wobble as mine but worse (per the dealership). They are reaching out to Ford Engineers for advice but are now considering this a “characteristic of this vehicle.”
Just curious, have you always had the problem or did it occur sometime during your 18k miles?Hey guys.
