only a few hundred pics or so - LOL. Maybe there’s another forum on here where I could post up more.
Bugsy was originally found in a field in Montana with a tree growing up through the middle of it and has been a project ever since. I built a 10.5:1 compression 331 (stroked and poked 302) Ford for it. Roughly 400hp with a C4 Automatic and a Maverick 8” rear end that’s hanging on a pair of Posey’s Super Slider leaf springs. Front suspension is Heidt’s Mustang-II geometry with manual rack & pinion steering.
Bugsy’s a fun little cruiser and a favorite at car shows in my area.

OK… been there and my older brother still doing it. How long have you been on this one?
I bought the car as a roller in 2007 and it’s been a chore/struggle at times, but mostly a good build. Now that my new shop is nearing completion, I might be able to finish it in the next 20 years! 🤣

Thanks! I built it to be a nice running docile power plant. Other than rather poor fuel economy (around 10 mpg) I have no complaints. I only have about 800 miles on it now - so it will be getting better..

Oh no, wait for the replies about the license plate being off center 😆 . Kudos to you for putting a Ford engine in a Ford. Well done sir.

I’m 71. My Maverick is a 22 Lariat AWD lux package, copilot 360, Cactus Gray. Currently 24K miles.
Nice spec! Cactus Gray looks great on the Lariat AWD. Good to see you're putting solid miles on it—they really are the perfect size for daily driving.

Slacker!

I was 11 when I started wandering the neighborhood with my mower!

There's not much point in an engine that can produce significantly more than the tires can deliver . . .

If that's the one I'm thinking of, it wasn't so much a CVT as a single speed with torque converters in series. An interesting idea, but aside from the smoothness, not a good one!
NHRA drag racers would disagree on the spinning tires. And they hit 330 plus mph in 4.6 seconds or less in the quarter mile with a 10,00-12,00 horsepower car! Now, if i can transplant that engine into my Maverick...

Bought my first house in 1967. Two bedroom 60 years old one owner estate with all the furniture and personal belongs: $7,200. Bought a new 67 VW $1,600 (no radio). 2024 Lariat Eco boost was about four time the cost of the house and the Beetle but thought I got a good deal
Love the Mustang and is that a 33 Ford
i consider the Ford Victorias from that era he prettiest Ford made in that era

Interesting VW story: I was maybe 15 ( you could drive at 14 in Idaho) and about to take a girl on our first date. Was going to use my parents 58 VW. The day of the date the fuel pump went out. Dad said no problem. He said the gas tank was higher than the engine so as long as I kept gas up in the tank filler neck it would gravity feed. If I went up hill it would feed even better and down hill I wouldn’t need the engine running. He was right. Date went off without a hitch. Do that with any modern car!!

Love all the old VWs. I traded a lady this car for painting her house. A lot has gone into it, but it keeps feeling young.

My brother also had a Karmann Ghia in the same exterior color. Cool! I was a Beetle Convertible person myself but always the ones made by Karmann Coachworks cause they were “better”!

I so wanted a convertible Karmann Ghia long ago.

A few years ago, I stumbled across one here after my car rolled over and died--and realized that there is no way that I'd go into today's Las Vegas traffic in one! (or an MG, or . . .)

OK, the lack of AC would kind have been a show stopper, too, but . . .

I guess I'm more sensitive about collisions since my father drove his '64 VW far enough into a telephone pole far enough that the bumper could have gone back on it . . .)

But I still like looking at them!

I hear you on that. It mostly goes out for Sunday (pre church dismissal) drives. I dont like driving any car in traffic, my nerves are shot quick.
