Young Maverick Owners Thread

Well I’ll start first…

I’m 21 with a 2022 Hybrid XL.

I originally got the Maverick because I wanted something practical that still had truck capability without killing me on gas. I looked at bigger trucks, but for where I’m at right now it just made way more sense. Easy to daily, cheap to fill up, still fits plywood, dirt, tools, camping gear, etc. Plus I honestly liked that it felt different from every other truck on the road.
What I actually use it for is kinda everything:

• hauling plywood, dirt, cement bags, random Home Depot runs
• towing occasionally
• camping trips
• road trips
• daily commuting
• way too many “lemme see if this fits in the bed” moments

As for mods… yeah the “I’ll keep it stock” idea lasted absolutely no time at all
Started with simple stuff and somehow turned into:

• full lighting setup
• roof rack
• rooftop tent
• awning
• wraps
• aux battery + inverter setup under the rear seat
• overland gear
• more stuff still sitting in boxes waiting to go on

Biggest mod addiction is probably lighting and electrical stuff. Every time I finish one thing I immediately think of another thing to wire up lol.

I was your age when I bought my first car - a 1979 beige Volvo 242. I felt like an old man driving that car/color! Hopefully you don’t feel like an old man as you drive your Maverick Hybrid haha. Congrats on your purchase!

I'm 41, so I don't know if I qualify as being a "young owner", but I definitely don't fit into the Senior Citizen thread.

When I started looking into buying a Maverick, I was initially surprised at how many older dudes owned these trucks. I guess I shouldn't be, though. The median age of new car buyers has been trending up for decades now.

At 41, the Lobo was my first new vehicle purchase. My mom bought her first new car, a 1977 Mustang, when she was 19...!

Anyway, millennial doomerism aside, answers to the OP's questions:

• How old are you? 41, as mentioned above.
• What trim/engine did you get? Lobo, as mentioned above.
• Why did you pick the Maverick over something else? I was actually VERY tempted to get a new (2025+) Ranger. I think they are massively underrated and dollar for dollar are a better buy than a current Tacoma (and better looking, too). However, I have always wanted a street truck and I knew I would be happier daily driving (and parking) a Lobo. I don't regret my decision, but I do still lust over the Ranger.
• What do you actually use it for? Commuting to work / dive bombing roundabouts and any curvy road I find / hauling furniture, landscaping materials, and anything else my wife wants to buy.

The FX4 with the 4K tow is an underrated package on these trucks. I'm surprised how few of them I see. If the Lobo didn't exist, I might have bought one of them. Nice truck!

Thanks! I agree, and at the time there was still no Tremor yet, so this combo was the "truckiest" Maverick you could get. I too feel like I rarely see an FX4 Mav.
