I’m still on my 1st Maverick and most likely it will be the last! Not because I don’t like it but I’m averaging less than 5k miles per year.

Soon after I brought "Blu" home, my driving routine changed. Work relocated, my favorite hobby store closed amid a few other things.. I too do much less travel..
I am averaging about 6800 miles the last three years..

Which is Good and a little Disappointing..

I purchased my Maverick a year after retiring. My work commute was putting 36k to 38k miles per year on a vehicle. The variance is based on when there was major construction for over a year and had to drive further to exit the highway. I am at 1 year and 1 month of ownership and have 8586 miles. We have taken it on 2 trips of around 700 miles round trip and it is the daily driver. Usually go somewhere every day, YMCA, art supply store, grocery, pick up dinner because we both are tired of cooking lol.

Hmm, another Geriatric Thread.. 🤭
All these old geezers with their 2nd, 3rd and 4th Mavericks..

If MY 1st Maverick lasts as long as my Rangers did..
I should be getting MY 2nd one in 2035.. 🤗

Jerry
By this metric, I’ll be getting my next one in 2043.

I'm late 70s and on my second Maverick, 2025 Tremor. Setup for off-road, the first thing I did was swap out the off road tires for Michelin Defenders 2. Now the truck is smooth and quiet on the road. The truck is fast, by far the fastest vehicle ever owned. It makes me feel younger when driving.
What in the world did you drive in your younger days?

I’m 81. First car was a 36 Ford sedan. Threw the sedan body away and put on a five window coupe body. Never got it on the road. First real car was a 1956 Ford Mainline with the 272 ci engine and overdrive. One of the best of many cars I ever owned. Had a 67 VW that just wouldn’t die until the engine seized up and locked up the rear end at 70 mph at around 250,000 miles.
So far my Maverick Lariat is the best ever. Love the driving aids (remember I’m 81).

1978 Corvette 0-60 in 7.8 seconds.
2025 Maverick Hybrid AWD 6.7 seconds.
Car & Driver numbers…
I had 1968 & 1972 Cougars. The ‘72 with a 351 is listed at 10 seconds.
Times have changed… although my tires could spin all day.

'56 Buick that cost $200. It was a bucket of bolts that served the purpose. I started working in high school and all throughout college. Used cars were all that could be afforded as I was paying my way. There was a winter day where I had to crawl under the car on the snowy road to change the fuel pump. The local gas station had received bad gas causing many clients that day to stall. Fortunately, my high school buddy helped with many repairs. The Buick had a CVT transmission and got about 8 mpg. Gas cost 25 cents per gallon and I was making 50 cents per hour. During those years, used tires or cheap retreads were all that could be afforded. The Buick did have a nice large back seat.

I’m old and dont have the patience to read through all 36 pages, but it’s good to see a thread that hasn’t had whining about sooo many problems.
I used to beat on my cars when I was younger. Is there a correlation?

Thanks. Yes, it is a 1933 Ford Tudor that I’m just about done building.
Nice, got any more pics? Always wanted to rebuild an old Ford but never got around to doing it. Started a couple of 50s truck and a couple of 60s coupes but never got them complete before I sold them and started something else.

I started working at 12 mowing lawns
Slacker!

I was 11 when I started wandering the neighborhood with my mower!

There's not much point in an engine that can produce significantly more than the tires can deliver . . .

The Buick had a CVT transmission and got about 8 mpg.
If that's the one I'm thinking of, it wasn't so much a CVT as a single speed with torque converters in series. An interesting idea, but aside from the smoothness, not a good one!

67 and In perfect health now that I’ve been putting raw materials in me for almost a year.

Gary Brecka explains it all.

My 2024 Eco is great. But I’ll trade up every five years from now on.
My next may be a Mavbrid,
If they fix the battery issues.

The horsepower of my 3 cylinder Bronco sport was 191 and it was adequate, not thrilling but adequate.
That’s what the Mavbrid makes with both systems powering the vehicle.
It will get the job done.

If I play it right I may keep my 2024 Ecoboost for a second vehicle.

only a few hundred pics or so - LOL. Maybe there’s another forum on here where I could post up more.
Bugsy was originally found in a field in Montana with a tree growing up through the middle of it and has been a project ever since. I built a 10.5:1 compression 331 (stroked and poked 302) Ford for it. Roughly 400hp with a C4 Automatic and a Maverick 8” rear end that’s hanging on a pair of Posey’s Super Slider leaf springs. Front suspension is Heidt’s Mustang-II geometry with manual rack & pinion steering.
Bugsy’s a fun little cruiser and a favorite at car shows in my area.
