Hybrid with lux and 360 on order (Jan 24 build date) but having second thoughts. The deep sleep/battery issue greatly concerns me. I live in northern Maine and will be mostly using the Mac locally for short trips, often less than 10 miles. While the truck will be parked in a heated garage, from what I have been reading I may experience the problems that so many have faced. I ordered the heated seats and from what I am reading on the forum, using them might be problematic. Your thoughts please.
Michigan here, our maverick is parked outside all the time and sits for 4-5 days without being used.no issues so far.we have an ecoboost however. With you vehicle parked in a heated garage I would have zero concerns 😊

My Lariat Hybrid is scheduled to be built this month too, and lately I’ve also been wondering whether it’s worth the $37k or not. For me personally, hybrid powertrain, keyless entry, push to start, lane centering, and adaptive cruise control are all must-haves for my new vehicle, so it was always Lariat or no Maverick at all to me.

My partner has a 23 Kia Sportage Hybrid SX Prestige, and it is fantastic vehicle. It’s got pretty much everything you could possibly want in a modern SUV, and then some. We thought it was much better than the CRV Hybrids and RAV4 Hybrids we tested before we got her Sportage. I would get one just like hers if I could, but those are just as much a unicorn as a hybrid Maverick, and you can’t exactly place a factory order with Kia and get MSRP like you can with the Mav.

The ā€œcheapestā€ market adjustment I was offered ā€œto orderā€ one was $4k, which, when added to the MSRP of ~$38.5k, brought the total above $40k and closer to the uncomfy end of what I’ve budgeted for this purchase.

Ultimately, everyone’s definition of what is ā€œworth itā€ or not is completely subjective, but I believe that the Maverick Lariat will give me all the things I care about in a vehicle in my budget. But more importantly, it will also give my partner and I the ability to go out into the world, get sandy/muddy/whatever, and then just throw our dirty stuff in the bed.

I can also throw our mulch, gravel, plants, flowers, and other garden needs in the bed without worrying I’m going to get dirt in the car. This will help us keep our sportage cleaner in the long run, and the lariat even has a trailer hitch and guiding line on the backup camera, so it gives us the ability to tow a light trailer if we want to in the future without having to worry about adding a hitch to the sportage down the road. I’m all in for the pure utility of it alone!
For $35-40K look at a Honda Ridgeline. Much better truck for the $$ and has a huge lockable in bed trunk. The MPG loss will be worth it in the long run due to lots of reasons, mainly long term reliability, and better NVH.

My '24 Lariat should be here (after delays) by the end of January. I went through the same mindset, i.e. why am I spending $10k+ on upgrading to the Lariat. But in looking at all the additional equipment (mostly comfort and convenience items...I like 'leather', power seats, XM and sunroofs...), and the fact that I keep my cars 10+ years and 200k miles, I'm still under $40k out the door in a market landscape where that seems to be increasingly rare. After 18 months, I CAN'T WAIT TO FINALLY GET THIS CAR.
I completely agree. For roughly 4k over XLT lux you get a lot with Lariat. And I also agree that fully loaded for well under 40k is nice. Also interesting is how many of us have ordered and how some have waited so long and others haven’t. I ordered on 10/30/2023. Supposedly scheduled for 1/22/24. Others have similar build schedule but ordered a lot earlier than me. How realistic is the schedule?

Thanks for the reply. Can you recommend a specific item or manufacturer?
NOCO Genius 1. I used it on my TR6 for 2 years. It did exactly what it was supposed to do. It "tended" the battery. Good price, too.

Deep sleep according to Ford is not an issue as its designed to turn off some features to preserve battery power. Think of deep sleep as a feature in itself.

Trucks not starting is an issue but hard to determine what % of those with deep sleep experience a no start.

With that being said, 12v batteries last i checked were on backorder so that should raise some eyebrows at Ford. Is it bad batteries, phantom draws... No one here knows. I think a BMS program gets "confused" and under charges battery. Maybe a reset once every few months is worth it ..

I have had deep sleep once (truck started). I have trickle charged twice for fun and left it untouched for 8+ hours. No issues since. I have had the air leak TSB done while at the dealer...they insisted since my VIN was eligible even though I had no issues. Maybe that helped, I dunno.

Edit: I have started double locking as it turns off lights (maybe other stuff as well) much sooner than with a single one.
what exactly is deep sleep mode and once you achieve that condition, are you supposed to be able to still start the vehicle?......is the issue that some in deep sleep start and some don't?

I too have a January build on a Lariat hybrid. I am not worried about the issues I see here. The sample size is too small and you will read all the bad and none of the good in most forums. This one is proving the same as others I have been in. My second thoughts are what the 25 will be like and that my initial thought was ā€œwhat a nice vehicle for 28kā€ That was for a 23 XLT Hybrid Lux. I’ve ordered a 37k Lariat and am concerned it’s not worth the extra now.
it’s worth it IMO. My 2024 Lariat has no recalls, no issues and the add ons were worth it it me since I’ll have this truck for a few years. Selling it down the road should be no problem with all
of the XL’s being ordered.

Deep sleep mode is from the Maverick not fully charging the 12v. This makes your fordpass app useless and some other minor issues like the interior lights not turning on until the truck is started. Some people have the truck just not start without a jump if the 12v gets too low.

Just a random thought;

Has anyone here who's experienced the Deep Sleep no-start issue tried unplugging their BMS sensor at the battery to see if that fixes the issue? I've wondered if maybe blinding the system and running the alternator wide open ("normal", basically) would stop the issue. My gut feels that it could be an undercharge issue.
Truck doesn't have an alternator really, it has a generator which is part of the hybrid motor setup. (ICE plus 2 electric motors). Not sure if unplugging that would help or break stuff.

I have a 2022 Hybrid XLT with LUX. I ordered within the first few weeks of orders, took a little over a year to receive and I have not had any issues with deep sleep, truck not starting, etc. I do have all the recalls you could have though, but other than some loud brake pads and pitted rotors (dealership replaced them at 11K miles), I have been extremely happy with the pickup. I am in upstate New York and have not had any issues using the heater, seat warmers, etc. Mileage does drop when pumping the heat, but with the cold weather I am still averaging 38 mpg.

I am moving down to Texas at some point this year so I have considered upgrading to a Tremor for some beach driving, but it is a hard choice as the Hybrids are holding their value extremely well. Plus, averaging over 40 mpg and the extremely smooth driving has been great.

If you are concerned though, order an EB as well and grab whatever shows up first.
I should also add, I recently just left the vehicle to sit for a week and a half when I went to Texas. This was in 20-30 degree weather. I've done this a few times over the year and a half I had the vehicle and no issues.

I also do not use the app or remote start (I know I am weird and I just hop in the car and suffer with the cold).

Also note that the forum kind of breeds fear because you are always hearing about the negative issues and while it is still a concern, it is a small number of vehicles that have issues in the grand scheme of things.

My Maverick is not garaged and so far this winter we have been down in the low to mid twenties at night and I have had no issues, knock on steel.

Mine: 24 Lariat hybrid delivered 11/17/23. [Sold my 22 EB upon arrival of the hybrid] The 3,170th 2024 assembled. Just under 1000 miles to date. No issues.

Granted, I live in a very temperate climate friendly to EV's and hybrids but I am showing 44+mpg and that is better than expected.

I do find it goes into battery saver mode if I don't drive it for a few days. The interior lights, exterior lights, etc. don't come on when I unlock it is all that happens.

I had to unexpectedly accelerate heavily to merge onto the freeway yesterday and it took off quite nicely and got me ahead of the vehicle I failed to notice.

The truck doesn't have any problems related to deep-sleep, it's just a byproduct of the extremely small, budget battery that comes standard. There's a rumor there might be a higher quality battery coming in place of the current "Enhanced' Flooded Cell being used in the Hybrid.

Only been a few days, however the difference in how mine charges and maintains both voltage and SoC after swapping out the Motorcraft with the Weize AGM H5/47 battery is night & day different. - It does actually bring the battery back up to the post-drive state, even on a somewhat shorter trip in cold weather with the heated seat, wheel, and lights all on.

Don't worry about your order, just figure you might want to upgrade the battery at some point, either with a higher quality 99/RT4 or H5/47 (former is same physical size, latter is physically larger).

"...I don't believe for one second that Ford has figured out the Hybrid drivetrain issues..."

My Maverick is my third hybrid: a 2013 Toyota Avalon (much of Ford's hybrid system is based on Toyota's) and a 2015 Ford C-Max Hybrid Energi plug-in. I have had ZERO hybrid issues with all 3 vehicles; Ford introduced the first Escape Hybrid in the 2005 model year, so I feel pretty confident that they know what they're doing. While some people are having issues, what we don't know is the overall PERCENTAGE of problem vehicles. 50%? 10%? 1%? We certainly can't tell from a few posts here.

I do wonder how many of the people having problems are dealing with a Ford service department that lacks the proper training to properly diagnose these issues. Unless there's only one Ford dealer near you and the rest are all 500 miles away, I do not understand why someone keeps returning to the same incompetent dealer in hopes of finding a solution. BTW, I spent 5 weeks in Europe and the Maverick started immediately upon my return.
