Glad I live in Utah. Our state is very proactive in adding additional freeway lanes. In a few years or so it is likely the 360 mile length of I-15 in the entire state will be at minimum 3 lanes in each direction from Idaho down to Arizona. And along the Wasatch Front in northern Utah it is already up to 6 lanes in each direction, and still have emergency pull off lanes on both sides of the freeway.

My understanding is Ford will only replace the engine the one time for the poorly machined ones out of the plant. Can someone confirm this?
Yes.
Because they don't have a stock of the problem engines that they are doing replacements with.
But new engine has another 3yr/36K mile warranty - in case it has some issue of it's own, or caused during install.

It will get there in due time. Not the decades that other states take. I'll bet you'll see it within the next 10 years. There are three lanes in almost all places along I-15 where the elevation climbs.

Its a nightmare section of road rage- That 3rd lane is so needed to just let the maniacs pass at 105 MPH when needed :)

It gets worse south of where I-70 joins into I-15.

My Ford dealer just replaced the factory battery in my 2022 Maverick XLT FX4 under a recall for 12 volt batteries that suddenly open up and lose power. I have never had any problems with losing battery or engine power. I always turn off the start/stop feature designed by a total idiot whose goal was to sell replacement batteries and starters and annoy drivers. WOW, I couldn't be happier that a 3 year old battery got replaced at $0 since it was going to fail soon anyway.

Have had something similar happen to me (total loss of power) and it is scary as hell.
Scary as hell? Nah, you’re just spoiled by owning modern cars which perform near flawlessly and you’re simply inexperienced with how to handle this situation.

I’ve had it happen dozens of times. Causes? Quirky European brands known for their electrical gremlins. Electric fuel pump that failed. Loss of 12V+ contact due to corrosion. Stuck thermostat and subsequent overheat. Running over a chunk of cinder block in road and not realizing it punctured my radiator, whith subsequent overheat. Cracked cylinder head, with subsequent coolant loss and overheat. Blown headgasket with same result. And the most notorious….. A Fox body Mustang that would randomly shut off once or twice a month, then once pulled over, be able to immediately restart It and drive away. This was before the days of AI, or even the internet, so you couldn’t just go to chat GPT and sift the knowledge base of millions of people. I took it to a dealer and they ran diagnostics on it and said it was working just fine. And charged me for an hour of labor. So I dealt with it for months, not wanting to keep flushing money down the toilet at the dealer. Then I ran into the right ford mechanic, told me this was characteristic of a failing electronic ignition module. And finally got it fixed for good. 😂

Those were not the good ol’ days. They were the bad ol’ days.

I challenge you to find a ICE vehicle that doesn't lose power when the engine blows up.
Yes, of course, every ICE will lose power if the engine blows up.

An easier challenge is to find properly maintained OEM ICE vehicles that lose power when the engine blows up. Those cases result in recalls usually.

Toyota’s Tundra is a recent example. There have been others of course.

An unacceptable failure rate for the NHTSA is .1%. Although they actually consider 0% the standard.

There have been around 300,000 Mavericks built - so 300 failures would be considered unacceptable by the NHTSA.

The Maverick “blow up” is not a fluke. Most of my driving would not result in major injuries due to engine blow up. But if/when I drive in traffic at freeway speeds I hope to be able to react “calmly” in my Maverick.

I once had a tire blow out at 75+mph on a freeway - adrenaline rush for sure getting to the shoulder!

Please quote the post where I called anyone a liar.
Are you even old enough to drive a powerwheels?
Sorry, I somehow on my phone screen mixed you up w/ someone ( Master Blaster)who was intimidating that the OP was lying or was to blame. There seem to be a few on this site that go hysterical when somebody has problems w/ their Mav - because they’re perfect and all, right ?

105 in Utah is a speeding ticket.

106 is reckless driving. That is a misdemeanor, not a felony.
It is not a felony.

In Utah, a speed of 105 mph or greater is considered reckless driving. Additionally, driving 20 mph or more over the speed limit, regardless of the absolute speed, can be deemed reckless based on the specific circumstances.

Other factors such as time of day, weather, and whether you are passing a school bus or railroad crossing also influence a determination of reckless driving.

Specific speeds of 105 mph or greater: This is explicitly defined as reckless driving in Utah law, a Class B misdemeanor.

20 mph or more over the speed limit: This is considered a "per se" condition that can lead to a reckless driving charge.

Other contributing factors

- Time of day
- Weather conditions
- Roadside obstacles
- Vehicle characteristics
- Knowledge of the area

Specific actions:
-Passing a school bus or a railroad crossing
Important to note Reckless driving is defined as operating a vehicle in "willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property".

An officer's discretion is a factor in issuing a ticket, and a judge or jury determines if the prosecution meets its burden of proof.

A conviction for reckless driving carries penalties, including fines, potential jail time, and driver's license points.
