Anyone getting impatient waiting for your Maverick to get scheduled and considering a switch to the Santa Cruz?

I think that the Santa Cruz will be exceptionally fun to drive, the only real engine choice is the turbo. The base model is barely better in mpg.

I dislike the styling and it lacks utility except for towing capacity.

I was going to get a bronco sport, but was hesitant about the mpg. The maverick being a small truck with a hybrid ticked all the boxes.

I don't see the huge rush, and you'll overpay for a SC right now anyway as you'll be lucky just to pay MSRP. I'm going to wait to drive both for sure, and hopefully prices will relax a bit.

One thing that I think is for sure though at this point, is that the Maverick is a hit and likely to way oversell the SC, and that's not necessarily a good thing.

Mav has massive amount of preorders, and it says here that its expected to be a top seller among fleet buyers: https://fordauthority.com/2021/08/2...ed-to-be-popular-with-fleet-buyers-says-exec/

So driving a Maverick might feel pretty dime a dozen, resale might be easy but rather low if there are craptons of them especially fleet dumps on the market, and getting a white one is almost off limits if you don't want to be mistaken for a commercial vehicle. So if you don't want to be confused about which pickup in the parking lot if yours, a Santa Cruz has some appeal for being a bit more exclusive.

If you would have asked me a year ago I was pumped for the Cruz and wanted one. That was until my current hyundai took a dump and blew the engine at 69k miles and been fighting with hyundai ever since about it.

Absolutely not!
I ordered June 15th. Nothing on my build would be considered late. If I get early fall or late fall, I'm good. I'm not desperate for a vehicle. In fact, my expectation is January. Anything sooner is a bonus.

I will be patient. The Santa Cruz just does nothing for me whereas I am excited to own a Maverick. I considered changing my order to dump the spray-in bed liner to get picked sooner, but I will just use the time to save up more money for a down payment.

We all knew we'd have to wait for this truck... Why order one if you're not prepared to wait?

So I think the Santa Cruz is actually pretty cool, but the Maverick wins out on styling, price, and fuel efficiency. My Maverick is specd exactly how I would want it at $27.5, while the Santa Cruz I'd want is about ten grand more. The interior of the Snata Cruz is really nice and looks great but I'm just really into the styling on the XLT trim with the orange, and I like it's simplicity. No volume knob and no real buttons on the Santa Cruz's dash is a bit of a deal breaker for me. Lastly I'm just not buying a car that small in 2021 that gets 22 ish MPG. The hybrid aspect of the Maverick is the top thing for me. It allows me to justify having a truck as a daily driver, and it's price makes it viable at my current salary.

WITH THAT SAID, if money was no option and I wasn't as gas conscious, if I was choosing between a fully loaded ecoboost Lariat with the FX4 and the works for $35,000 and comparing that with the top end $40,000 Santa Cruz, I'd probably go with the Santa Cruz. Seems more fun to drive potentially, it can tow more, and when you're paying $35k and up for a car, I expect the interior to be a bit better than what's in the Lariat.

I will consider a low trim SC if my Insight dies before taking delivery of my hybrid lariat.

I love the look of the SC but don't think it would be worth switching to. Along with the mpg's, the functionality of it will most likely be well behind the mav. The price is also a pretty big deterrent if you like to go fancy like I do.

I actually went yesterday and looked at a Santa Cruz...not impressed. The bed is even smaller than the Maverick and the styling was just no. Never been a fan of a flying buttress.

Santa Cruz commercial just ran in the “Field of Dreams” game tonight on Fox. I never watch, but since I’ve walked on that field…
