Does anyone know of a retractable step for the Maverick bed. I know its not that high, but I’m 73 and my balance is not what it used to be.
Tired of having to use a step ladder to get into the bed.

Thanks.

Thanks. Have been to most of those links and the under bumper ones I have found do not fit the Maverick.

Sam,
If you don't mind. I have a question.
How often do you want/need to get into the bed of your Maverick and for what reasons.
The subject has been covered before
There is no GM Style step bumper or Ford ladder in the tailgate. for the Maverick.
You either have to install a ladder that attaches to the tailgate and is kind of in the way when stowed or you use a step ladder.
There are several more threads on this subject and cover options.

Yep not much of anything but plastic on/around the bumper to hold much weight unless you custom fabricate something i imagine.

I made one out of a scrap 2" sq tubing with a flange on it and a 2x4 (it's under the snow somewhere right now) but sometimes I use a hitch extender I bought from Amazon. Yeah, getting up and down isn't easy anymore.

Maybe look at Amazon for “Tailgate Ladders”. They are several good looking possibilities. I have the same problem and I’m 76!

You can put most things in or out from the side or just pushing them in from the tailgate, since the Mav is a lot lower than other pickups. If you really need to get it, turn around, sit on the tailgate and swing your legs up and into the bed. I'm almost the same age as you and cut a cheap $19 6x9 doormat as a bedmat to take the pressure points off my knees and stop stuff sliding around. When I need to haul stuff like trees I just roll up the bedmat and stow it in the back seat footwell, keeping it clean. If things do slide forwards in heavy braking, I have a Costco pickup gripper in the bed to easily reach that far. I also have a Ford-recommended 2x6 in the back slot to stop groceries and stuff from sliding forward.

What about one of those steps that mount on the reciever hitch.

I have a different one and it gives me so much safer getting in and out of my maverick bed, prior to installing that I felt so hard that still wondering how I didn't break few bones.
