So I was rear ended in February this year and it has been a nightmare waiting for the replacement parts to ship from ford for the repair. I just last week had the last of the repairs complete and one of the last items was replacing one of my headlight assemblies. The problem is that the LED strip (Lariat) doesnt appear to work on the new assembly. Body shop seems to think its a wiring or programming issue and wants me to come back tomorrow for a diagnostic. This is the second housing they ordered as the first one had done the same thing but they thought it was defect from Ford. Does anyone know if there is something theyre missing? Or should the LED just work once the assembly is plugged in? For reference my old one works just fine it just had a crack somewhere so they are replacing it.

Thanks for any feedback.

My only suggestion would be to double check they're using the right part number as it sounds like you have the XL/XLT headlamp assemblies, not the Lariat ones. Especially if they just reordered and got the same thing...

Confirmed the headlight assembly is the Lariat part. NZ6B-13E015-BF

The lariat headlight is easily recognizable by the black trim inside (aside from the LED DRL). It should be pretty obvious if they’re getting XL/XLT parts by mistake.

The LED strip in the Lariat lights is part of the DRL system. On many vehicles, including my E450 motor home chassis, the DRLs were not illuminated until the engine was running, transmission OUT of park and the parking brake released.

My 2020 Transit just got a replacement for the passenger side headlight. The lower half of the LED was a faded yellow. When I open the door, they light up.

This cutesy LED stuff isn't going to be as slick as manufacturers think. The LED part lasts, but the electronic parts inside fail.

The headlight for the Transit was $1700, but under warranty. I will damned sure get a Ford ESP warranty WITH the $50-$85 light add-on once my Maverick finally arrives.

It has an internal module that communicates with the BCM over the LIN network. A LIN initialization procedure needs to be completed using Fdrs or forscan. Takes a minute and you’ll be back in action!
