Repaired Update! 25 Mav XLT vs 2 ton meat wall (moose)

So. Last night I had a run in with a Canadian mass of muscle and bone. Thankfully it wasn't a direct hit but I pretty much mangled the drivers side front corner of my mav. Poor thing is pretty hurt. Looking like it'll be repaired though.

I lost my driver's side mirror in the kerfluffle. But i put a temporary solution using existing holes for the time being until the repair shop can get to it.

Hoping it'll be good as new in a month or so

From what I know about moose (mooses? meese?) you got off lightly! Glad you are okay.

Your mirror retrofit reminds me of the "bandage" I make out of paper towel and scotch tape when I cut myself and am too lazy to fetch a Band-Aid.

Yeah you could have done a lot worse. Years ago, I worked with a guy who hit a horse on the highway. It rolled over on the hood, knocked the windshield out, then kicked him in the face. He was pretty messed up.

Glad you're good, and the maverick is no so bad, luckily it wasn't a direct impact otherwise I don't even want to imagine it.

That doesn't seem so bad for hitting a moose, even if it was just a glancing blow. Hopefully it's just most superficial damage

Hard to tell from the cam video but it looks like you had little time from seeing the moose until you hit it. Did you have time to even tap the brakes? Average reaction time to hit brakes is 3/4 of a second although road conditions may have dictated no harsh braking. Were your lights on bright? I fully agree that it is often better to hit the animal rather trying avoid it or lose control...............

To be honest i was tired af after a 15 hour day at work driving home so my response time was not at 100% wanted to sleep lol. I work out of a town 40 mins from home. And oilfield worker

No doubt he got off easy... I got this from a little Missouri deer a few months ago. I even got "shat" on.
