Alright, I picked up a hybrid Maverick I rented off Turo today. First thing, driving Chicagoland suburbs from 30-60mph, I averaged 54.3 (on the screen) for 37.9 miles and 21.8 fully electric.
I’ll admit, I worked a bit to try and see how high I can get but even with the readout being high, damn near 50mpg is really cool to see.

second, this car does not feel fast, but like multiple people have pointed out, you just get up to speed without even realizing it. It’s not my car so I’m not going to push it, but in day to day driving, it didn’t seem to struggle, at all.

I’ve got the car until Saturday evening, so my plan is to drive how I normally drive tomorrow and take it out on the highway, Saturday and I’ll report back.

My initial thoughts though is that this thing just makes sense as a hybrid but I’m not 100% convinced this is what I want to order… yet. Considering I’m looking at an fully loaded XLT EB w/ fx4 or a lariat lux hybrid (I feel the truck is worth closer to the 30k mark and if I’m pushing 40,000 I’d probably be looking at something else) the thing that may Ultimately push me towards the hybrid are the visual and QOL upgrades.

Edit: please disregard my grammar and spelling mistakes.

I think the hybrid Sounds like a really cool truck, but every time i log in its another dead Maverick post so,, no i dont regret my 2.0 xlt Fx4 4k choice 16000 miles zero issues, i went on a 13000km trip to northern Canada where sometimes i had no cell service or any towns for hundreds of miles, i dread to think how i would have delt with a dead hybrid then. I know the problems are bieng dealt with and i look forward to a full EV Mav but for now no regrets.

Did not believe it until I had my hands on an EcoBoost for 3 hrs....Hybrid in Sport mode is definately quicker than the EcoB 0-60. Hybrid with only FWD is also much more capable than my Honda Element AWD.
I doubt that... every 0-60 posted shows hybrid to be slower!
Specialy when you see the power figures
162 hp/155lb.-ft vs 250hp/277lb.-ft and the xl EB is 100 pounds lighter than the hybrid...I think its just the feels of it not shifting that make it seem faster

Having driven both for a substantial period of time, I am glad I settled on the Hybrid. The Ecoboost certainly has more power and you feel that when when driving it. But I personally wasn't looking for speed, extra towing or 4wd. I was looking for basic comfort and good mpg in city, highway and combined. I read all these post of folks with Ecoboost getting higher MPG than the Hybrid. In my experience that is just not realistic or something I could even remotely duplicate. Ecoboost did better on highway than city. Hybrid better in city than highway. However in no driving scenario rather city, highway or combined, could I ever get the MPG on the Ecoboost that I did with the Hybrid. I am very suspect of some of these numbers being posted for the Ecoboost.

How fast, rather Eco or Hybrid is irrelevant to most people. You get what you need based on your use scenario, not because of how fast these trucks are off the line and what they get in a 0-60. All that just seems like a waste of time, but hey... to each his or her own. :)

I have no regrets on my 2.0 decision. I wanted awd and the tow package which you need the ecoboost for. Also when it comes to power it’s sufficient. I’ve driven the hybrid as well and to me it’s not for me. Im also not concerned about fuel economy and fuel prices so 2.0 was the right choice for me.

I was expecting the ecoboost to have more "push you back in the seat" type power. It doesn't - the power band is much more smooth but as you said, you get up to speed very quickly without realizing it. Seems like Ford spend a lot of time setting up the computer to prevent spikes in torque which might "feel" fun but are really bad for the transmission.

The performance people report for the hybrid is much better than I thought it would be. If they made an AWD hybrid I'd get that.

One other issue to think about is the battery. It's small and therefore relatively cheap. If you want to keep the truck forever, that means it should be cheaper to replace when the time comes. Battery replacement costs of EV's and hybrids are scary high. Most people who buy new won't encounter that issue but it's nice to know.

I LOVE my hybrid, over 15k trouble free miles...42.6 mpg over last 12k. But...it is NOT like the lightning I tested yesterday... 0-60 in LESS than 4 seconds.

I think you have that backwards, unless the EB is connected to a trailer at the time.

No regrets re: my hybrid even though I do 80% highway driving. My hope is that the gains from the durable engine/transmission pay dividends 10 years down the road

I went with the EB 2.0 because I wanted AWD and IRS. I’m averaging 29.5 mpg around town after putting 1000 miles on it. I‘ve got some camping trips coming up, so the AWD will be put to use. The IRS results in a very comfortable ride, which I appreciate at my age. My other vehicle is a 2022 Toyota Corolla Hybrid that is averaging 63 mpg. Overall, very pleased with the Maverick.

For sure, it's scary to read so many "Another dead Maverick" post. If only the owner would have known about it, they might have wiggle the 12V wire or carry a jumper pack in the truck.

Although the issue could have easily been replicated in the EB model if the 12V battery was in the backseat. It's not a high voltage Hybrid issue.

Yeah, that doesn't sound right at all. 🤣🤣
There must have been something wrong with that EB.
Drop the EB in sport mode. There's no way in hell that hybrid is faster at any speed.

If it were all electric, which I'd love. Then I would believe you. 😂

Couldn't be happier with my 2.0 EcoBoost. Fast, AWD, great mileage, up to 35 mpg + highway.
