I live in Southern Utah (Think Las Vegas) I am wanting to order a Maverick but am torn on which motor. I am an avid mountain biker and wonder if 2WD will be enough for light off road use. I do not plan to “wheel” but I do want a capable truck. I’m leaning toward the 2.0 but love the mpg of the hybrid. It never rains or snows here what would you guys recommend?

Would FWD with all terrain tires help? Between that and traction control I would think you would ok. I know snow tires make a big difference during the winter months for my FWD.

I was going to same close to the same thing. I live near the Uhwarrie National Forrest. I feel my 2wd Ranger could do the easy trails there almost as good as my 4wd Wrangler. If the the roads/trails you will use are relatively smooth (meaning no extreme ruts/dip/holes with sharp decent/drive out angles) you should be just fine.
