I have a cactus gray lariat with a hybrid powerplant. It was ordered in October 2021 and may be built soon since I finally got a vin number s few days ago.

Meanwhile the dealer called me a couple months ago and said a buyer ordered a Eco lariat first edition in rapid red. Would I like it? I had tried for red but only first edition could get a real red and by the time I ordered they were sold out of first edition.

Next morning I was at the dealership and apparently the ordering buyer was in the back room again saying he couldn't perform. I said I would take it. So, I have over 6000 miles on the truck which has trailer hitch and all wheel drive and moon roof. Nice car/truck. Sync 3 stinks. Unreliable. The transmission reminds me of old GM jerkomatic. I like the ride, even if the dealer did deliver it with 58 lbs in each tire and didn't wash the car.

I've had many cars in my life and I enjoy this one. It has a good spring in it's step when needed. I am happy we can pass along the cactus gray to someone when It arrives, if it arrives. I will leave that to the dealership

I've seen that review. Whom ever did that test. Made a mistake.
You can go anywhere else on the net. Even on YouTube. Most people are around 6 seconds 0-60 in the EB.
I haven't done any time test myself.
Seat of the pants easily tells me, it's faster than 7 seconds 0-60.

The vehicle the Maverick replaced was an Alfa Romeo Giulia 2.0T. Which was under 6 secs 0-60 mph. The EB isn't as refined or smooth, but the 2.0 EB will hang right with it in that time frame.

Ive read thread after thread and as expected, everyone justifies why they purchased what they did. I’m curious if anybody hates their ecoboost or hybrid and wishes they went with the other one and for what reasons.

I’ve been dead set on one or the other one, switching weekly as both have their pros and cons.
I found a 2022 Eco and bought it at MSRP with 4,000 miles. I bought the Lariat and like the ride, agility, braking (wow) and the inside cabin. I had it in snow once and it was great at 80MPH with a cross wind on I15 north out of Vegas. The current mileage is about 22 around town and 28 when i get some highway in. I have hit 34 on a 400 miles round trip with no wind and at or under the speed limit. Probably would have gotten the hybrid for driving around town but not sure how it does in the snow. Any feedback would be appreciated. i can get on a long list and feel pretty comfortable waiting since i have one in the garage.

That review doesn't dispute that the EB is faster 0-60. it just shows that the hybrid is faster from 40-80.

With winter tires, I imagine it’s as good as anything.
I had a WRX with winter tires and felt it was almost impossible to get stuck in snow (barring a 2” snow drift) and I’ve had winter tires on FWD cars that felt about as close to unstoppable (on regular roads) as the AWD did.

If you notice, they have the EB at 7.0 seconds. Which in real world use, not correct. If those times are off, it throws the entire
test off.
It is highly unlikely the Hybrid is faster at any speed.

The EB is a completely different animal in sport mode. It feels like you switched vehicles when sport mode is engaged.

I have the hybrid and love it. It pulls hard enough for what I need of it. I'm getting 5.1L/100 with a good mix of driving styles. The brakes take a bit to get use to, but I'm averaging 590m/960km per tank easily. It's comfortable with my utility trailer and small boat 1500 pounds, no issues. Wish I had AWD, but otherwise excellent truck.

Does the hybrid ever feel sluggish when passing at highway speeds?
The idea that the Hybrid is sluggish is wildly off-base. It is actually very impressively fast. That said it depends on what mode you have it in.. Eco mode will feel sluggish but that is by design so that you spend more time in electric mode and it doesn’t flip to hybrid mode as quickly. I usually drive in Eco or Normal mode and if I need to pass I’ll quickly flip it into Sport. The acceleration in sport mode is seriously impressive and not at all lacking. So to answer you question completely if you are in Eco mode and suddenly need to accelerate aggressively you will find it to feel quite sluggish, the acceleration eventually kicks in if you floor it but it’s delayed. If you know you’ll need to accelerate aggressively ahead of time you can quickly switch it to sport mode and you’ll have all the acceleration you can reasonably ask for (actually more than that).

Switching into sport mode while on the accelerator is when I really notice it. I've meant to switch back into eco or normal and accidentally stopped at sport, and the truck instantly zooms.

I have the Hybrid and could not be happier with everything about it. I have just under 16,000 miles, most of it highway. Currently averaging 47 mpg. Around town I am getting over 55mpg. It’s good off the line and very fast acceleration from 35 to 70 mph. The factory tires will NOT get through winter though. There is slippage if on first or in the rain

I got the hybrid for the fuel efficiency, not for 0-60. It's perfectly adequate for my needs. It's actually not sluggish at all, even in ECO or normal mode. I tried sport mode the other day and it jumped. I have another go-kart like vehicle to go from 0 to 60 in ~4 seconds so no need to do that in my Maverick. I need to slow down anyway. :giggle:

Either has benefits. I chose hybrid fwd because my small trailer and zero turn mower weigh 1000lbs. Which is 1/2 of the tow capacity of the hybrid fwd. I am keeping my 2011 sorento v6 (276 hp) to make sure my new maverick hybrid has adequate feel. Most days are commuting. If the hybrid is close to the feel of my 2006 escape hybrid(2.3), i will be very satisfied. The 2006 Escape hybrid had amazing pull. It was very satisfying to drive commuting, plenty of torque that made it feel like a V6, different in a way, but it was very enjoyable.

Well, I ended up “pre ordering” a hybrid lariat lux. MPG ended up winning out, for all the money on waste in my life, spending money on gas seems to irk me more than it should.

During my short 3 day rental, the hybrid didn’t irritate me at all or have me wishing I had more power, and if I were to go for a fully loaded lariat lux ecoboost at 38,000 (probably 1k more for 2023) then Id be looking at different vehicles, anyways.

I do think the XLT lux is the best value and what this truck feels “right at” but there were too many things on the lariat that would allow me to enjoy the car that much more, nicer headlights and taillights, sync 3, bigger speedometer screen, power rear window, active x seats, keyless entry and start etc etc.

I appreciate everyone’s input on their choice and think it’s really cool that one car had so many options for people to go with (at a great price).

I have the hybrid XLT and could not be happier with this engine choice. I have 16,000 miles already with a lot being highway. over the last 6,000 miles i am averaging 46 mpg and when i baby it have gone 800 miles on a tank. Driving on the smaller roads of Cape Cod, where i know every hill, stop sign and potential spot for a tourist making a left turn against traffic, I always get over 55mpg per tank.
My truck is way quicker than the Tacoma it replaced and has great acceleration in the 30mph and up range, not to say it pokey off the line, its just great accelerating at over 30 mph. The sun visors suck but otherwise its a great truck
