Ecoboost, generally liking it. I got almost 32mpg on a long highway trip recently which was nice. However, I live in a dense suburban area that is basically all stop and go driving. There is one street in particular that has a stop sign literally every block for almost a mile. Because of that my mpg has been poor, generally under 20. if all I do is commute to work and back it's bad. Throw in a few highway stretches and it pops right back over 20.

A hybrid would be almost ideal for me, but I wanted towing and AWD which preluded a hybrid. If they made an AWD hybrid with 4k towing I probably would have ordered that.

Compared to other pickups the mileage is fine but it's a bit disappointing. Generally happy with it so long as no other issues occur.

No regrets getting the hybrid model. I'd rather have better mileage than AWD+4K.

I tried my brother-in-law's EB. When you step on the gas, it feels like a slingshot, slight hesitation and then your flying. As for my hybrid, its pretty much instant acceleration, but top end isn't as fast.

When I'm passing a car on the highway, it's really quick to get up in speed, its not like the Nisssan CVTs. Like other cars, it feels like it downshifts then it accelerates quick. RPM is always at the right spot. Just this morning I floored it to pass a car and notice I was going way too fast.

AS per Ford's numbers: right now I'm averaging about 5.2L/100KM = 45MPG. When I take the highway to work I'm getting about 40MPG and when I take city route it's about 58 MPG.

If the hybrid wasn't an option, we aren't looking at a Maverick at all. It's great for our bikes and camping gear, but we have no need to tow anything - we were looking at compact sedans when the Maverick was announced. So, no regrets; it's doing everything we wanted and at better than compact sedan efficiency (and at a similar, if not cheaper, cost).

I love my EB. I don't get the best mpg but I drive fast both on freeways and street. I can't do slow ever I find it painful slow driving makes me explode.

My Eco is a freaking 25 MPG rocket. No exaggeration, my Maverick is fast, almost ridiculous for a small stock truck. It’s not a performance car but damn for what it is…very quick. I have surprised a ton of people at stop lights, it’s funny when they can read my tailgate letters before they knew what happened.
Second! Those suckers are faster than they need to be for sure. Hopefully we get a performance pack from Ford that will un-cork a few more ponies.

Ive read thread after thread and as expected, everyone justifies why they purchased what they did. I’m curious if anybody hates their ecoboost or hybrid and wishes they went with the other one and for what reasons.

I’ve been dead set on one or the other one, switching weekly as both have their pros and cons.
My base hybrid XL is scheduled to be built on September 19.Currently have a 2012 Chevy Colorado that gets about 20 mpg. Can not wait for my Maverick and will get 40 to 50 mpg. Although gas has gone down a bit, I was spending $100 a week just for commuting to work. The $ savings will take care of a substantial amount of my payments. I rarely go over 65 and never over 70. If I want to go faster, I will watch a Star Trek episode. Hoping for delivery by late October.

I was only interested in the hybrid and I'm happy with it. I test drove an EB and it was a little quicker but didn't feel "fast." But then again I have a 460 hp Mustang, so it's all relative. 🙂

I got an ecoboost because I need AWD, but I totally respect the money you can save with a hybrid. I was curious to see how much you'd save over 10 years at $4 a gallon, so I whipped up the Excel sheet below. If you add another $400 for the upcharge to ecoboost, it's about $5,000. So yea, I respect that. For a retiree on minimal Social Security, or a young family - $500 a year saved is a lot of money.

let me add a little different perspective on this; my wife and I are both on Social Security, and it pays all our monthly bills including mortgage, utilities, etc. with a little left over + we both have retirement accounts. Neither of us typically drives more than a few miles per day. We share a 2018 F-150 with 5.0 V8 that gets 17-22 MPG depending on conditions. She has a Subaru Outback DD, but actually uses the F-150 more doing horse riding stuff. I have a Grand Cherokee with V6 4WD that gets about 17 -25 MPG depending on exact use/trip. We also have an E450 based RV that gets at best 12 MPG on the rare occasion we use it.

So in my case, the ECOboost AWD 4k tow will get better mileage than all other vehicles I drive, and can do all the towing and truck things I need on a regular basis and have the F-150 to fall back on if needed. There's simply no reason I would ever want the hybrid and I expect the fun factor to be better on my ECO as well. I'm not going to live forever (or be able to drive for that matter) so I'm gonna go with the biggest enjoyment factor and utility over saving a few $ on gas every time (y)

Not compared to a performance vehicle but it is compared to just about every thing else, especially for a compact truck. Depends on what you are comparing. It's not a GT Mustang but it sure as shit isn't a Prius. Yippy Kia Yay
