Well, the Maverick went down the road today. Carvana's offer went up by another $1k after January 1, and we dropped it off with them at 2pm on January 2nd. Their payment was in our account by the end of the day.
Thanks for all the input, everyone. Its been a good couple of years here...
An update to our saga.....
For the last 8 weeks, I usually called the service writer on Mondays to get a status update. Throughout the month of November,, the answer was either "I need to get with the tech" or "he's been discussing the truck with the Ford Tech line," and in both cases they...
Something's going on related to that powertrain update that was used to identify engines "getting ready to fail" via the knock sensor. My 22 Hybrid has been in the shop four separate times in the last 12 months, and currently for almost 60 days (see...
So what happens is that the Check Engine light and Service Engine light pop on, and the engine continues to rev freely without a change in road speed. The truck maxes out at 35-40mph.
I'm guessing the engine is charging the battery, and the electric motor is immediately consuming the energy...
This truck had no operational issues before 41425 miles.
All of the repairs so far have fallen under the factory 60k powertrain, or 100k? hybrid warranty. I have a PremiumCare extended warranty that we haven't even tapped yet, and each time it gets fixed, I resolve to see it thru to the end...
The dealer’s been fine. The repair orders show heavy guidance from the Ford tech line, so they aren’t trying to blindly fix it. But dang, the whole power unit between the front wheels has been replaced by this point (except for the axles, of course). :)
Just to recap, here's what's gone wrong with our 2022 Hybrid XLT in just the last ten months:
Codes P0811, P0E71, and PL920 at 41425 miles. Power loss on the highway, CEL on, limp to dealer on electric motor, damper clutch and flywheel replaced.
At 41725 miles, code P1061, CEL and Service...
Haven’t been back here since January, but today my wife had the truck go into limp mode on the highway with CEL illuminated, and she barely nursed the thing 15 miles to the dealership. I actually got notified via the app on my phone when it happened, and she called me 10 seconds later. It’s been...
Just got my 22 Hybrid back from engine replacement via campaign 23N06 at 41k miles. Since it was in the shop for 5 weeks (on top of another 3-week repair in November) and sat outside thru some pretty cold weather, I asked for the 12v battery to be replaced since the truck is 3 years old since...
Just a quick update here, I spoke to my dealer service rep today and found that engine replacement is underway. Completion expected shortly.
I also requested that the 12V battery be replaced, as it is almost 3 years old and the truck sat dead for five weeks thru some seriously cold weather.
Its all very odd. The engine idles fine, doesn't knock or overheat, and I change the oil at home every 5k miles. Nothing sparkly has ever shown up in the drain pan.
The dealer has been very responsive to address issues and supply a loaner car.
Our vehicle is having the same issue at 41k miles. Power loss on the highway, limp to dealer, damper clutch and flywheel replaced.
One week/250 miles later, CEL and Service Engine warning come up, limp to dealer, now getting new engine.
Uh, AZ dealers are the worst. We tried to buy a 23 Kia Soul in Tucson last Thanksgiving for our daughter to use at school, and Jim Click wanted $3k in extra service and junk fees. Royal offered a similar deal. Got back to Illinois one week later and purchased at sticker.
