I am very excited for this refresh. I bought a Santa Cruz Sel in 2023 as I could not find a Maverick anywhere, and I have loved it. Loved it so much that I have convinced myself that "small trucklets" are exactly what I want, so I am looking to get either a Maverick or a Santa Cruz in the highest trim this time around (as im confident ill keep it).

Cant wait to see what they add. I hope they add a 360 camera, that would be a very nice addition for me.
One spy shot shows a front camera, so that may be possible.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I prefer the smaller screen & cubby....perfect spot to stow my wallet while driving. And I don't get the screen envy...why is bigger better? Maybe in the case of displaying maps, a bigger screen might be advantageous, but for what is typically displayed on the Mav screen, I can see everything just fine, and I have bad eye sight! 🤠
Better map clarity is the biggest reason for a larger screen. The normal icons are easy to read, and not an issue at all.

I get it, but that would be better resolved with screen quality (HD)over size, which I would be all in on.

I think it's mostly driven by "keeping up with the Jones" syndrome.

I'm not so sure they are doing away with the physical controls, but maybe they will. Redundancy would be nice. If you like the screen? Use it. Physical buttons and dials? Use em!
They won't be doing away with them in the European Union, for sure. Since they're just now passing a law mandating them.

The Santa Cruz gets refreshed this year too. I saw some spy shots of the interior and it really looked nice. Ditto the front grill - a bit less Buck Rogers. Very curious to see both upgrades this summer and compare.

My other vehicle has an 10.25" screen but when using AA or CP it displays the same size the Maverick has due to the aspect ratio. A bigger screen doesn't always mean better.

That screen seems to be the exact same one that's in the 2024 Escape which is running Sync 4. Seeing as they share the same platform I think that's more likely then rolling out Android Automotive on a budget truck.
I think you're right. The lower bar seems to be the same between AA and Sync 4. But the upper Status bar definitely has the Sync 4 styling that my Lightning has.

Might be a concern if they ever sell them in Europe.

Seeing as I'm never going to purchase a vehicle in the EU I'm not overly concerned.

This is true, but my screen is usually split into a right and left section. A wider left (Waze) screen would be better for me.

That screen doesn't look as bad as the near vertical ones that were shared initially. Liveable. I like it actually. Will make phone mounting interesting for those who want to do it though. The cubby space is actually kind of nice for that.

But as for the new OS being used... figures. Pretty crappy that something like Sync with already limited support and tons of issues will be dropped for something else that ends up having the same fate in 5 years too. Sad reality of these "smart" infotainment centers. Personally I don't care for any particulars as long as it works, but it's annoying that if you plan on keeping a vehicle for long periods now days, your infotainment center will be without support eventually. Same goes for phones too though...

Still, AWD Hybrid or it doesn't matter to me. I confirmed I'm sticking with my '22 for at least 5 more years.

Looking at some reviews of the new 2024 Escape, the screen quality is much improved as well.

They mess with and talk about the screen a bit in this review

Resolution does appear greatly improved, but I hope the Mav retains physical buttons for HVAC and other functions.

I’m afraid everything will be controlled on screen. Wife’s crosstrek has a massive screen that controls everything. Had to get the extended warranty since that one piece unit seems expensive.
