So long story short, as I was driving at 7 mph in traffic in Brooklyn, and an EBike rear ended me while trying to squeeze between a city bus and me.

He didn't quite make it. His left hand went through my passenger side tail light.

(Image is reversed)

On the pics can also see the dent/scrape his handle bar left on my tailgate.

Thankfully I have rear dash cam, so when cops arrived it was quick and (fairly) painless.

Of course, no plates or insurance on the EBike, so this is going to be an out of pocket repair.

Ordered new tail light at local Ford Parts ($248) , should arrive in a couple days. Will post pics of repair.

Also ordered touch up paint, but that's backordered for 5 to 6 weeks.

If he has it, his renter's/homeowner's insurance may cover things like this.

Repaired.

Here are the pics. Took about 5 minutes (plus 10 minutes to fish the bolt I dropped that fell into the bumper and then into the plastic undercarriage).

Here are the pics

Sorry to hear about that. I hate city driving. Glad I live north of the woodchucks.

Ford seems to like leaving bare metal inside the tail light housing supports. Gonna be the first place I check in about a year or so on my truck.

Cops should have held onto his ebike until he paid your damages, or put it in your truck box, he gets it back after he pays.

It looks like there is only 1 electrical connector on the tail light, which daisy chains out to both brake/turns bulbs and the reverse bulb.

So where is the BLIS sensor? I thought it was integrated into the tail light assembly?

Bumper has the sensors (if equipped).

Not really a separate BLIS sensor. There are the backup sensors - 1 in each corner of the rear bumper cover and two in the middle. The ones on the sides help scan blind spots. Note the round black spots on this conveniently painted bumper cover.

Ah, I thought those bumper sensors were just older style ultrasonic parking sensors. Thanks!

Does the side mirror have its own sensor for blind spot monitoring?

I assumed the mirror had the blind spot monitoring and the bumper sensor was only for the backup alerting; i.e.360 packages on xl trim bump the side mirrors to powered, but don’t include backup alerting.

Not that I'm aware of.

BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) can alert you to a vehicle detected alongside and difficult to see in a blind spot.10 The system uses radar sensors on both sides near the rear of the vehicle. When a vehicle is detected in your blind spot, you are alerted with an indicator light in the sideview mirror. The Cross-Traffic Alert feature also uses this radar to help detect traffic behind your vehicle when you’re slowly backing out of a parking spot or driveway.10 When it detects a vehicle approaching from either side, it flashes an indicator light in the sideview mirrors (same as BLIS) and emits an audible warning. Also, a visual display in the message center indicates from which direction the vehicle is coming.

Per 2022 Maverick owner's manual:

LOCATING THE BLIND SPOT INFORMATION SYSTEM SENSORS

Ford Maverick Rear Passenger Tail Light Damaged by Ebike {filename}

The sensors are behind the rear bumper on both sides of your vehicle.
Note: Keep the sensors free from snow, ice and large accumulations of dirt.
Note: Do not cover the sensors with bumper stickers, repair compound or other objects.
Note: Blocked sensors may affect system accuracy.
Note: Bike and cargo racks could cause false alerts due to obstruction of the sensor. We recommend switching the feature off when using a bike or cargo rack.
If the sensors become blocked, a message may appear in the information display. The alert indicators remain illuminated but the system does not alert you.

Those are the sonar style on the Lariat Lux. The CP360 sensors are radar and behind the bumper cover on the sides.
