@avane You might want to lawyer-up, there's a chance that the front bumper on that Jeep might not be legal for on-road use. Certainly, things may be different in Canada, but might be worth looking into.

Good point, HRG!

Ontario is not a no fault province, so I also suggest lawyer-ing up, and give them their cut if they win! That bar is beyond ridiculous.

I have seen many lawyer ads while living and travelling through the beautiful province of Ontario (not Diamond and Diamond, they always struck me that they are stuffed-shirts and advertising/trying too hard to be tough...if you really are tough, you dont have to say it).

As for the comment as to what's going on in Canada...there is an over-abundance of stupid lately north AND south of the border!

For example, what is up with what is believe is called "Carolina Squat?". You know, where your vehicle appears to be having a dog-dump on the road...I just shake my head when I see this stuff in-living-colour. I think we were passing through Alabama or Georgia at the time...beautiful country down there and we met so many nice people!

I’m still trying to figure out what a Carolina squat is. I hope I don’t regret looking that up šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Yes I’m hoping it’s not totalled! Underneath looks fine.

the panels at the left tail are bent but it’s mostly the tailgate.

I also appreciate the advice here on totalling it, etc but if insurance, dealership, and body shop confirm if it is repairable (and safe) after frame and mech check, I will have it fixed for sure.

I bought this truck because it was cheap…having it totalled is not ideal because now I need to settle for the newer mavs which are not necessarily cheap.

The Maverick is totaled no doubt.
Unibody is bent ahead of the left tail light assembly.

For an extra $80 a year I get a new zero mile never titled replacement for FIVE years if I get totaled. It pays what ever sticker is even if more than my 2024 was.
Only catch is I can get up to the Lariat trim.
If I pick a new one with more xtra charge options above the Lariat, like Tremor or 4K tow I’d have to pay the difference.

Mavericks total out when thumped, sad.
But my ass is covered.
Right before the five years is up I will trade it in.

This throw away society sickens me.
What kind of coverage is that?

I had to look it up when I saw the abominations rolling by as I was fuelling up our camper van...

I think that is what it is called...it's where the owner has their vehicle excessively modified so that the front of their vehicle is ridiculously raised up in the front and possibly lowered in the rear...I looked it up for you. I specifically asked, to stay out of trouble, "what is the automotive trend where the vehicle is raised a ridiculous amount in the front and lowered in the back"...we do need to be quite specific in our inter-web queries now...

I rate this right up there, but a tier lower even, then the dorks riding high in their redneck Cadillacs and those useless truck drivers speeding around with the oversize tires sticking out the sides of their wheel wells (they look like salamanders or lizards when they are running)...seems they have an affection for bull bars as seen earlier in this thread.

Ha ha, they say not a dance move below...that ISN'T the first thought that comes to mind.

But those are just my thoughts of course.

I hope this has clarified my statement for you!

Andy

Yeah, luckily those panels that the lights are mounted are completely replaceable. Redneck Garage here on MTC did videos of him doing it himself when one of his employees got in an accident and was a fault. If that and the tailgate are the only damage, I suspect insurance will just fix it. If the rear bumper is pushed down and in, that would be frame damage, so that's another subject all together.

Rear ended by a douchbag jeep weaving through the roads… Wife and daughter are fine. Frame seems ok and it actually looks like the tailgate is the thing that took the main hit because of the height of the jeep….look at that damn jeep tho..just some paint scuff.

What kind of coverage is that?
New Replacement coverage. I also have it in my home.
Got hit by lightning, Everything was cooked. Every appliance cost way more than the old stuff.
On my Maverick policy it reads, Replace with a New model of the current year,
So,
My 2024 gets totaled in 2028 up to 60 months from the time I purchased my 2024 I get a new 2028.
Only catch is I have to pay the $500 deductible and I have to pay the triple T
That’s Tax Tag and Title.

So ! On or before the 59th month of ownership I will trade in my 2024.
And gladly buy the extended warranty and the new replacement coverage.

If your insurance agent cant get you this you need a new insurance company.

Mines Erie, a big one, they insure skyscrapers and shit.
Home and auto bundle and these guys don’t do payments.
I pay in full once a year.
Oh and you will not get a decent rate if your credit score is not good, but that’s the same with every insurance company, often hidden with underwriters like AllState.

Jeep driver needed an ass whipping.
At the very least you all should develop neck problems and get free chiropractic and massage treatments for about a year. Then refuse to settle bleeding his insurance company as long as you can.
That should insure his rates go as high as possible.
The therapy will do you good.
they're in Canada where they have 'free' health care so maybe it's all paid for. already..by someone

Primary care (Dr visits, hospital stays/procedures and most medical things like that) are covered under our health care system. It covers all Canadians.

Other medical services (and medications) are covered (or parly covered, depending) by health insurance, if you have it or out of pocket otherwise.

Massage, chiropractic etc from this should be covered through the accident I imagine, if needed.

Ontario does not have no-fault insurance, so they can use lawyers to protect themselves i imagine.

Think of it this way...everything is controlled, one way or another...in America, in many cases you are controlled by money or insurance. Have it? Come on in! No...well...

In Canada and our health care system, it is controlled by how many procedures can be preformed. And this also depends on severity of the case, so you will need to wait your turn and get a call for your MRI, specialist appt or what have you.

I hope Ihave helped with this simplified explanation, from a non-professional person.

Andy

PS Not a Doctor! But I do have a good one...

Even in slower traffic that's some battering ram. As the reply lawyer up and see it that is on road compliant. Would have been extra on the physics side for impact x speed x coefficient of whack a moles for some injury.
