No issues for me - 2023 Hybrid Lariat. I wonder if the Sync3 observation is correct. I also like to park in “launch position” (I back into my driveway and parking spots), so everything is usually well warmed up whenever I use my backup camera.

I reported this back in January. My 2024 XLT back up camera delays the display for a few seconds and lags occasionally. Ford should definitely fix this as you said a few seconds is enough to run over someone.

my XLT, non-sync, yes at times it can be laggy, or even freeze when moving, which is not the best idea, but I drive a lot of other cars without cameras so it hasn't been a horrible issue, but annoying.

22 XLT EB. I have experienced occasional lagging, freezing, and failure to turn off while driving down the road with my backup camera.

'22 xlt, hybrid. I agree, it takes noticeable time to display when going into reverse. Yes, it appears jerky/laggy at times. Useful to look at after the 5 ok clicks needed to get through the nag screens.

Luckily, I know how to use mirrors. They are not jerky or laggy and have no response time issues.

Just a FYI. I only voted today, 7/3/24 because this is the first time that I've actually viewed this questionnaire. I voted that I've not had any issues with the backup system. It's actually way better than my previous Ford Escape and much needed because of the huge blind spot behind the bed....But that this Android Auto system is wonky to say the least.

22 XLT Lux 31,000 miles, yes it lags at times and the occasional freeze for a second. I have had it come up with a black screen and say the camera is not available and to see your Ford dealer a few times. When this happened (about 3 times in 2 years) the screen would stay in that state until I did a soft boot of the radio.

I really think it is related to the very slow processor of the synch 2.5 lite system.

I will need to try it tomorrow morning when I get in.
Reporting back. I have switched to reverse as soon as I started the truck a few times the last 2 days and have noticed a slight lag twice out of the 8 times I have driven. Maybe 2 to 4 seconds. But if I switch after I go through the nag screens I haven't noticed a lag.

2023 XLT Hybrid. No issues at all with the reverse camera. Works perfectly.

I am proof that NHTSA pays attention when you take five minutes of your time to create an issue online. Some months ago I posted a report that my rear view camera was occasionally laggy. It sometimes didn't display for several seconds, and it sometimes froze for a second or two while backing up. Most of the time it works fine (and I said that in my report). It's a small issue, but when the camera doesn't come up for a few seconds - but that's long enough to run over a kid or somebody's pet. So I reported it and moved on. I figured nothing would come of it.

Anyway, I've been contacted by an NHTSA investigative engineer and I plan to answer his request for more information tomorrow. I'd love to include any factual information from others on MTC. If your backup camera is perfect, feel free to let me know. If you've experienced lagginess now and then, I'd love to know that too.

Sad that I have to say this, but this is MTC. Kindly keep it civil.

Also, this thread will be irrelevant on 3 July 2024. By that time I'll have communicated back to the investigating engineer.
Any update on your call ?

Just today for example I had the backup camera freeze and stay on even after turning the truck off and taking out the key. Opening the door didn't fix it, nope had to restart the head unit. 🤪
