You can indeed choose to update via thumb drive for most updates (some require install using a programming head at the dealership). Check the Ford.com website for more information.

Perhaps my radio will have already been updated to the latest firmware by the time they get around to building my truck, but I'll be sure to track down the page you referenced.

Well that’t was a frustrating 5 1/2 hours!

Stopped at 94% and couldn’t get it to reconnect and download after I checked again... so I threw in the towel and came inside.

I did disable the automatic updates in hopes that it doesn’t try to keep downloading all night and drain the battery.

I hope tomorrow I don’t have a real Found On Road Dead… FORD!

I don't understand most of the above.
My 8-track tape player in my office at my TEMPORARY WORLD HEADQUARTERS, with the speakers that I bought from a guy in a white van in a Kmart parking lot sounds a lot better than the radio in my Maverick.

No the new one is 1.8 something but it didn’t show up right away for me either. Let the truck sit for awhile ( I waited 45 min or so). Then start it and you’ll get an audible message through the radio confirming the install. Then that screen will show the updated version number.

Bad news bro. You still aren't up to date. The latest firmware update is 1.8...something ...and ....something. It's probably gonna take another 4.5 hours or more to get the latest update.

According to ford, once you start truck, connect to wifi, run scan for update, click on update, and it states it’s downloading update, you can turn off the truck and let it be. It will download and update the software. I had been going out and turning the key to keep the power on…. Until I found that! I have 1.2gigabyte internet and the WiFi was full bars…. It sits at 0% forever!?!? Maybe if I use my phone hotspot and drive around… ford says it won’t work with this type of connection… but some say it does

Nothing new overnight! Still on 1.7…,

Ran check for updates again this morning and it didn’t even attempt to download.

Shows last check was this morning and yes I did hit it twice to make sure it downloads.

Guess I gotta try the thumb drive method next.

What’s wrong with yours, mine switches a.m and p.m. when searching for an update
It refuses to maintain the correct time, or any time at all. It's unpredictable what time the clock will say each time I get in my Mav. 3 times already it just shows --/-- so I set it and it's good until I look at it again.

I have XL hybrid and when I go to Ford sync website for update download, it asks for VIN#, I get the following message. Somehow, ford doesn't offer the file for the Maverick yet.

I got the same thing. I just gave up for the day since I have work to do and can’t waste time on this today.

From what I have seen, appears to be no direct option for non Sync 3 radios.

Depending on which version of firmware this is, here is a screen cap from a Discord forum with the changes to the existing firmware 1.8.0

My XL has an auto update option through Settings/Auto Updates. Once open there are several settings including a slide switch to turn on auto updates. This may be dependent on connecting to a local Wifi or other connection.

Edit: Sorry, should have read the entire thread first. The information has already been posted above.
