Prospective Buyer - Questions on Trims?

So i have been out of the new car game awhile but its time to replace the 2014 F150 as repairs are mounting... and am shocked at prices now. Inflation sucks.

Ive shortlisted the Maverick as an option, looking at an AWD Hybrid XL or XLT with 4K tow.

i have a small popup currently that i tow a few weekends in the summer, maybe some lumber in the bed or a utility trailer with mulch or stuff like that. Otherwise use the truck mostly as a commuter so why pay almost double (in Cdn $) the price for a new F150 i dont use, to get worse gas mileage.

Ive searched but whats the difference between the XL and XLT trims (for 2026)? Is it just the seat colour or are the seats themselves better, rims, keyless entry/push start and backseat cupholder and hitch (which is irrelevant as i plan the 4k tow kit anyway)? The XLT has more addable options (XLT lux package)... Heated seats might be nice but not sure if it woth the XLT+Lux package upgrade cost. Does the XL support remote start at all? i assume via the app?

Otherwise how is the factory bed spray liner vs linex? And the factory tonneaus(trifold or hard rollup). i think i saw they are Bak equivalents just with ford branding. any issues with them?

The actual structure and dimensions of the seats, are exactly the same in all three trims.
What fabric the seats are covered in is different. Pictured below.

My personal opinion.
Having lived in the Upper Midwest with Winter temps. into the negatives.
Heated steering wheel and heated seats are wonderful.
There may be some folks. I haven't read any on this form, who say they regret getting the heated seats and steering wheel option. I've seen posts, where folks who did not have the option and are trying to install it themselves.

The Lariats have a high quality vinyl called 'active-x' for the seats. Otherwise the seats are fabric, most people find them comfortable. The tonneau cover is a BAK rebrand and the spray liner was extremely high quality in mine. The Ford builder should show what options are available per trim. The XLT is pretty much the sweet spot for price/features so unless you are desperate to keep price down I'd just build out an XLT.

In addition to the aforementioned ActiveX vinyl seats the Lariat trim lets you have adaptive cruise control, better sound deadening, and the B&O stereo system.

Someone should really make a chart that outlines all this stuff.

Tremors are neat, but OP wants a hybrid with 4K Tow. If OP wanted an EB with 2k Tow - the base Lobo is $6,000 less than the Tremor

As noted in other post above, unless your wanting the upgraded luxuries in the higher trims, the XLT is the sweet spot. Your thoughts of the Hybrid AWD with 4K Tow are solid choices. I have a 26 Mav hybrid Lariat love it! has awd, 4k tow, spray in bed liner, heated seats and steering wheel, 360 view cameras, mine came with 19" wheels & tri fold top

I wanted an XLT for the cloth seats and 17" wheels, but I also wanted 4K towing and 360 camera like my 2023 Chevy Equinox LT has. Unfortunately, the XLT does not offer the 360 camera which is really stupid on Ford's part. If I could have done it over, I would have gone for a Tremor instead, and lived with 2K towing. I have an Ecoboost and not a Hybrid.

I regret getting the XLT base instead of the XLT Lux. But I got my XLT base for $200 over an XL. The regret is really only for the heated mirrors and the A/C plug. Unheated mirrors in Canada should be a crime.

I find the cheapest xl interior still very nice and simple, nicer than most top level cars twenty years ago. Also, I see a lot of upper end interiors , especially leather, look worse in five years than the standard interiors. But then again at 77 I don’t understand the need for adding things like tailgate assist or $3000 stereo systems

I’d highly recommend this $375 tonneau cover & $99 bed liner instead of factory liners or covers. Top notch quality:

Looks decent if you don't mind removing it to get full bed access, especially on a smaller bed, just something to consider.
