Not the same 2.3 at all.
The 2.0L Ecoboost, the 2.3 and the 2.5 are all derivatives of the Mazda L series.

Yes, the 2.3L did make it into the Ranger. The previous Ford dual plug 2.3, single OHC 8V, was phased out at the end of 2000.

How exciting! What vehicle did you pull it out of?

I love the 2.3EB in my 2018 Focus RS. It's full bolt-ons and a Cobb AP running a custom map from JSTuned. An absolute blast on the street and on road courses. Considered doing a full engine build, bigger turbo, Syvecs, and transmission upgrades but been very hesitant since it's a 2018 and they only released a 1000 of them. Hell, I still get offers for over what I paid for it new lol.

So

Modified version of the S&B Cold-Air Intake to fit the 2.3L?
1683841124226.png

Perhaps a modified version of your v2 Catted 3" downpipe to fit the 2.3L?

Your 26x8x4.25 Intercooler and Pipe kit?

The Stage4 Corsair 2.3L Turbo (57/61)?

And the 'spare' Corsair 2.3L Engine?

i think allot of people will be interested in seeing these 5 things come together in the Maverick. :)
The intake should fit without any modifications.

I offer the downpipe for the Stock or Corsair turbo and a version for the Ranger turbo. I will be using the Ranger style for this build.

Intercooler and hardpipe kit with Turbosmart BOV.

I am using a different turbo but I can’t share details until the time is right. Trust me it’s hard for me to keep this under wraps but I’ve been working on it for a while and the release will have to be perfect. I can say that it is bigger though.

I will need to address the fueling as well and get the tune dialed in.

I’ll try my best to document this for the group.
Thanks!

Excuse my ignorance. But does .3L make it worth taking an engine out and replacing it with a new one?
Our 2.0 makes 250 Hp and 277 tq with its puny 41 mm turbo

The 2.3 makes 295 HP and 310 tq with its respective 46 mm turbo

Now imagine the 2.3 with a free flowing exhaust, large intercooler and non restrictive intercooler pipes, a 57 mm turbo and a tune.

I kept going back and forth about doing this especially a few weeks before my meet. If I’m lucky the install will go as planned with enough time to install and tune for the new turbo.
Or this will go the opposite way and I’ll be kicking myself for not just leaving it alone.
The thing is that after removing all the parts to get to the turbo, You’re practicality more than 1/2 way there. A few more hoses, harnesses, bolts and it’s ready to come out.

Well over 300hp and nearly 400 lb-ft I'm sure!

It'll either come into Carlisle with a parachute bolted on the back or parachuted in and we'll just keep the hood closed. 😂

This is just the kind of maniacal hotrod madness that I love to see! Good luck with the build!

2.3 was in the Pinto too, but it was completely different. The Ecoboost shares no parts with the earlier 2.3's.

Everything is disconnected and the engine is chained to the hoist. My 10 year old was upset that he had to go to bed for school so I promised him that I’d wait til tonight so he could pump the hoist and pull the engine out.
Surprisingly it’s not too much to disconnect as most of it stays attached to engine.
Once I have them side by side I will start swapping accessories over and get ready to drop in the 2.3.
So far so good.!

Well I guess the hard part is done ? Ya right lol . I would have liked to take pictures along the way but I am on the clock for the 28th and I’m doing this on the fly.
I will definitely take notes on any important compatibility issues etc.

I need to stay off eBay for now because Focus RS transmissions keep popping up and that’s not in the cards right now.

For now this 2.3 with upgraded turbo and supporting mods should be a good start.
