I have used Ravelco on 2 of my previous trucks.

Love it.

No way to bypass, hotwire, remote key Fob hack, cut wires, disconnect, bridge, nada.

Must have the physical dongle installed to start truck.

Even saw a pic of one on a Maverick Hybrid.

I have yet to install on mine because I'm retired and live in the country....but, this would be my go to for anti theft.

If your truck is not there with Ravelco, it means it got towed.

Insurance can be a false sense of security. Will they pay off what you owe, or just the cost to replace the vehicle? What can be, at least for me, is going through the wait, without transportation. Or having the added cost and inconvenience to buy a substitute until my order comes in.

I guess I look at it kind of similar to a person not taking the time or initiative to push the lock button when exiting the vehicle. Especially in certain high risk areas. Of course it doesn't help if you come back to your vehicle to find it up on blocks and missing tires and wheels.

Like what's been posted aluminum foil, I even seen a tin box, so there are other means to protect this type of theft, similar to locking your vehicle. Or like myself not ordering or installing remote start on my key FOB.

If you think the Ford pass connection cannot be intercepted and hacked, I have news for you. ;)
By that logic, why lock your doors? People can pick locks or break in. Why put valuables in a safe, even in a deposit box in a bank? Those can be broken into, too.

It's not about whether or not any given solution is 100% secure from the most capable criminals - it's about if it's hardened enough to make it impossible for some and not worth the effort for most. Of all the means to steal a vehicle, using the remote start in the Ford Pass app is likely way down at the bottom of the list, especially since that alone doesn't allow actually driving it.

Never hurts to reduce your risk profile. Many people don't know all the methods to do it and some of the things like a faraday bag are useful when providing support/guidance to less technological family members.

Sounds like a faraday key box or key rack would be a smart thing for many less tech savvy or lazy people 😁

Newsflash: it only takes a few seconds to pick a door lock, people can get into your house and steal your stuff....
They don't even need to know how to pick the lock - all they have to do is kick the door in!

Two questions - 1) how much? and 2) can it be installed on the other side so you can keep the key and dongle on the same keychain without having to disconnect the two? I had a quick release key chain like that fail and lost keys.

I paid $550 in San Antonio, TX for my last install in 2018.
That was a 2018 F-150, 3.5L Ecoboost.

Prior to that was $450 in San Antonio, TX in 2014 for a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L Turbo Diesel.

They have a pricing section on their website, and looks like it went up a little.

The installer comes to you and it took about 3 hours for the installer to finish.

Yes...you get to choose where they install the socket.
Usually anywhere you want.
Preferred either side of the drivers wheel area so within drivers arm reach.

I usually had mine installed left side of wheel, whatever looked the "cleanest" based on the vehicle layout.

Even if you had to exit the vehicle quickly and it was running, if you pull that dongle, vehicle shuts down, regardless of key in, turned on, remote key....it overrides everything.

Don't lose that dongle (they give you 2).

One benefit of having an XL. An actual key, which takes longer to steal.
