So I was watching Donut videos on YouTube about using relay attacks to steal cars with keyless push-button for starting. I wonder if they physical keys in Maverick XLT or below actually will make this method useless (cause you need a key to start). Thoughts?

Hi Everyone,

Im new to the forum and a 1st time owner with Ford! I picked up my 2023 Hybrid last week and loving it so much! This will be our family car and I have 2 kids. Has anyone heard of any issues with break-ins with Mavericks or stolen Mavericks since its a pretty hot car in the United States and Canada. Today, I decided to order on Amazon a few items. I got a RFID Key Fob Protector, RF Signal Blocking Case-Protection for Car Key Fob. Also, I ordered a steering wheel lock anti-theft called "Stoplock".

Im originally from Toronto, Ontario-Canada area and now living in Ottawa. Just alone in the Toronto and surrounding area, there has been 27,000 stolen cars in 2023. Canada has now been known to be a donor country for stolen cars. The cars get stolen and the thief's take the cars to Montreal port and ship it overseas (Africa, Dubai, etc).

Just curious, if anybody doing any additional protection on their Mavericks? If so, any additional tips for the rest of us? Thanks!

-Ric
I ordered mine without the push button start. Much harder to steal. That said, I've never heard of a Maverick that has been stolen. Bueller, Bueller?

Thousands of stolen Hyundai Kia would disagree with this.

takes about a minute

Those rigs are efficient!

Fortunately the repossessions are increasing at a rate that there aren’t nearly enough drivers and rigs like that to handle the legal repos. Toyota credit and Wells Fargo are even paying bonuses to get to the head of the line with those guys. Perhaps the (shady), owners of those rigs are going straight for the foreseeable future.

Lots of trailer trash Challenger/Charger buyers out there who's credit far exceeded their wallets. Lots of ballers defaulting on their Mercedes, Beemers and Caddies too. Now, ballers be walk’in.

I imagine there are a few Mavericks getting pushed way back in the bill payments after the Student Loans kicked back in and the deadbeat thieves are having to pay back at least one of their debts.

Are you suggesting I get rid of the worthless junk piled up in my garage, just to put my $40,000 Maverick in it? That’s just crazy! 😂
Sounds like my neighborhood.

Thanks, really enjoying the ride and also saving $$ on gas!! That is true and most people dont care about it but it is making a splash for a whole new market of consumers. For myself, I also have a Subaru Outback and I was always looking for something that I can toss the bikes in the trunk easily rather than use the bike rack, throw in some fishing and camping gear, etc. For our family, the Mav fits that bill with the right size and usefulness with the trunk-besides its great utilitarian use.

I got my Mav tinted few days ago and the installer was impressed with the car and going nuts over it. lol Hes heard about the Maverick through the grapevine, news, social media, etc. I've been driving this truck for the past week and people constantly asking me questions at the parking lot stores, etc.
I had a Subaru Baja and loved the AWD plus a little bed in back. We don’t get much snow/ice in North Texas but the few times we did the little Baja was awesome. Unfortunately it was totaled a few years ago or I’d probably still have it.

I’ve seen a couple of reports saying that the default rate is through the roof, and that there is an impending avalanche of repossessed cars and homes on the horizon. On the other hand since Mavericks are relatively cheap compared to other new vehicles they should keep more of their value. Time will tell how bad the economic crash is…
