We had a power outage this AM and I have a sump pump in the basement. Power was going to be out for an extended period, I so figured I would run an extension cord to basement and plug sump pump into the bed outlet....400w was not enough to kick the pump on and my warning light was flashing. Thinking of ideas for next time as I go to store to look at generators...lucky for me the power came back before the pit overflowed....

Very good to know as I also have a sump pump and while I didn't think the inverter could handle it, it's good to confirm.
There are also 12volt backup sump pump systems where you use a marine battery and the system has a maintainer and will come on when the ac power goes out.

I have two ac pumps and a 12 volt backup on my sump pit.
My sump pump runs every minute or two, 24/7 and I worry that the 12 volt system won't last long enough in case of an extended power outage.

Motor loads, require three to five times running watts to start up.

I am thinking a battery generator to power the equipment and the bed outlet to charge up the battery generator....

I got a Ryobi 2200 watt generator.
2200 peak, 1800 running watts. Hundreds of hours on it.
I run it not my Maverick engine.
The Ryobi will run at half load for seven hours on one gallon of real gas. Never ethanol, Ever.

If you want to run the sump from your hybrid Maverick you will have to install a pure sine inverter which will handle up to 16v DC input (probably 3000 watt to get that). Find high enough fuze in truck most likely at battery positive but ground at body not neg post. Truck will have to be ON because DCDC converter will need to supply current not the small OEM 12v battery. Be sure to protect your wire with proper fuze as the OEM 12v is fuzed with 200amp. Ice will cycle on/off as HVB needs charging. Be sure to use heavy enough extension cord no longer than necessary for sump.

Depending on battery size when you carry back to truck to charge it could take quite a few hours, so may need several of them. Depends on how much time sump is running.

Unfortunately that 400w inverter doesn't power much. It's almost like why even put it in.

I tried plugging in a small electric leave blower - it was a No-Go.

I once tried to run a sawsall, no go. Used it once to charge a laptop. Mostly it goes unused.

I have often thought that there is an opportunity for Ford to offer a big inverter for the Maverick. Even if the truck needs to be idling, it would provide emergency power. But then, that is what "Pro Power Onboard" is on the F150 Hybrid.

I tried it for a hair dryer, to heat some tint, didn't even work for that! I suppose that falls under the "motor" umbrella as well, but figured it may work since it was so small. But alas...

The 400 watt inverter is basically useless. It’s more of a gimmick to make people think “Oh, I can use this in an emergency”.
Almost nothing other than a lightbulb in your house uses less than 400 watts.

I've carried food to a party, on two different occasions, in a regular crock pot. Worked great.
