On the power meter at left of instrument cluster, I already know the gray/white bar above zero means you’re using ICE engine, and the blueish bar above zero means you’re using electric. But sometimes there is a gray/white bar above zero which has a greenish portion beneath it with a distinct separation from the rest of the bar. This happens when I’m driving with ICE engine and I have my foot on gas, definitely not coasting or braking. Anyone know what this is?

Probably like the current EV coach screen.

ICE on and working, but the Blue box means if you can throttle carefully into it (or just coast and back on pedal softly) you get EV mode.

But unlike the current method where it shows EV is possible, sometimes it may be staying with ICE for some reason - heat desired, recharging, ect. So it really doesn't slip into EV.

Maybe that green means you will be able to.
If no green then you have something that is preventing it.
So don't bother soft-pedal attempting to get into EV if no green.
If green and power needs are low - go for it.

Perhaps while you got passenger to get picture or video, you can attempt that engagement while commenting on it.

ETA - since green seems to be used for charging usually (perhaps), green bar section means you are in hybrid but the battery is getting charged.
As opposed to braking and recharged.
As opposed to battery full enough to actually lend a hand with extra power to traction motor - as described in below post, shown by some blue along with ICE for extra power needed.

Be interesting how Sport mode looks on that gauge, since the HVB being topped off seems to be the goal, and using more power from the motor.

I can't figure any of this out either. Sometimes its blue, sometimes its grey, sometimes its like 4 gray bars and 4 blue bars, I don't understand what the greyed out engine icon is either, I kept thinking it was going to light up orange or something when it switched to hybrid (gas) mode but I've never seen it light up or anything. The only thing I figured out is that when it drops below the 0 and turns green is when it's charging

I THINK when you see both grey and blue bars at the same time, it means the engine is running but also receiving some assistance from the traction motor (HV battery as the energy source) to boost it a bit. I have noticed that when I have both grey and blue bars showing at the same time, the blue bars slowly disappear as if it is representing the HV battery being drained/used.

I definitely prefer the old setup for the instrument cluster on models 2024 and prior. It seems that somehow they made the screen bigger on 2025 and yet showed less useful information or no information at all. Again, I don’t mean to complain. It’s not a massive deal. Just a small annoying quirk.

This is what I guessed as well. Conversely, If you slowly come off the pedal when you see gray and blue bars, the gray portion tends to shrink faster.

Today I messed around with MyView and used the EV Coach display and that really helped. It always displays which mode you're in, and when you're in electric mode, there's a box with a power meter inside, and once the meter extends out past the edges of the box, it switches to hybrid mode. It makes it really easy to stay in electric mode (you just brake or let off the gas when the power meter is about to go outside of the box). I tried it today and was able to stay in electric mode all the way home from work, although I was driving like an idiot

Captured a photo. A little blurry but that’s the best my camera could do in the low lighting.

You can clearly see a greenish/blue portion on the bottom of the power bar making up maybe 20% of the current power usage. Note that this greenish/blue portion is ABOVE the zero line, which means it’s not the normal charging you get when coasting or braking. Also note that when this is happening, the display says I’m in HYBRID mode, not electric.

It seems to happen most, oddly, when I’m accelerating a little bit pushy. So this leads me to believe it’s either: 1) some mechanism where the electric battery charges when you’re giving the pedal some metal, or 2) when the electric battery is being used to supplement the ICE battery.

Yeah, I believe the small more blue'ish bars are showing the traction motor assisting the gas engine, which is represented by the grey bars. The more bars, the higher the "RPM" that you would normally see on a classic tachometer.

For me, those small more blue'ish bars go away pretty quickly as I accelerate or go up a hill or whatever.

Are you saying it means it’s running in electric mode? I can promise you it’s not. The mode clearly said “hybrid” when it showed that on photo.

Or are you saying it’s running in hybrid on the ICE but still supplementing with electric power?

Yes.

You will see that sometimes when it goes from full electric to gas, those blue bars will be 8 or 10 high, with only a few grey above (making the total 12 or 14 bars). And then as you watch, the blue drop one by one until it is all grey bars and no more blue bars. The more "umph" you need to give the gas pedal, the faster the blue go away. If you feather the pedal, the longer the blue last.
