Here is a photo of it occurring on mine. As you can see, the blue with the grey shows that the electric motor is assisting the ICE and by roughly how much. There is a legend directly to the left which shows what the grey and blue colors represent.

It does make sense now that I've seen several examples. It even says "power" at the bottom. It is showing kW or HP if you prefer coming from electric and gas.

It's the replacement for this:

It seems somewhere there would be a very clear explanation from Ford on this - we should not have to speculate or figure this out. There’s got to be a simple explanation I would love to understand how this works beyond a shadow of a doubt on my new 2025 Maverick Lariat AWD Hybrid 🤷🏼‍♂️

I live outside of Edmonton. It was -36 yesterday morning with a wind chill of -41. That -16 on the thermometer was the high for the day with the sun shining.

We're having a nice warming up now, though!

It's not a mystery at all. All hybrid systems work like this. Ford themselves will tell you that the HP and Torque ratings are for the combined power system (gas and electric). Most people think of the electric part of a hybrid system as being for efficiency, and it is primarily. It's also to increase power as needed.

It depends. In the morning, at -36, the electric system didn't seem to function at all. I had the block heater plugged in all night too and a good half hour drive to work but it never got warm enough so I got this:
The temperature gauge for the engine also rarely went just above the blue area there. It never hit the middle.

Then, later in the day when the system was warm enough to function, I got this. Sorry, I don't know what an mpg is.

Doing some converting with google, it looks like I got 27mpg in the morning and maybe 38mpg in the afternoon.

Yeah, we have fun up here. If you're curious what that is in Fahrenheit, -40c = -40f.

You get used to it. The damn neighbor kid was clearing snow and ice off his mom's car in a dang muscle shirt and shorts. Ah, to be invincible again!

I guess based on this picture, the hybrid system was functioning when it had warmed up to -26.
