So I'm getting the Eibach 2-inch Prp-Lift springs installed on Wednesday but didn't really care for the silver finish Eibach puts on all its off-road springs. Black just works better with my color scheme so took this Sunday afternoon to prep them...

I could understand wanting them painted. They are very noticeable on the fronts, but doesn’t look weird on my silver truck.

Yeah here is a picture of my truck. All black and gray. I had seen photos of trucks with these springs installed and I thought that just won't look right on my truck. Probably fine on others. Just personal preference really.

I'm not a big fan of the silver and I will probably end up going the same route with my springs. I don't think they'll look great on a velocity blue.l Maverick.

How did your prep go? What kind of spray paint did you use?

Honestly I really didn't do much in the way of prep. I mean the springs are brand new and already have the silver painted finish. So i just added a couple layers of high-gloss black on top of it. Didn't really want to damage/scuff the silver.

I used this Rustoleum product. It's oil-based paint and primer in one. Guess only time will tell how well it holds up.

Once the paint starts to crack, try the bedliner stuff or maybe flex seal. Those coils will be expanding and contracting, the paint will eventually crack. Some paint is more flexible than others though.

Good suggestions. My son thinks it won't last long but I think it'll do ok. Time will tell. Worth a shot for $6.

Honestly you won't notice for about 2.5 winters. I painted some old maverick springs once and it lasted a while before flaking off. But that's spring steel for ya.

Yeah and only a portion of the springs are visible. Like you said easy enough to hit the exposed areas with something else when the time comes.

Curious what you think of the springs once installed - I’m enjoying having the extra clearance. The ride with the new springs and larger tires makes it feel and ride like a mini F150 instead of a car and I love it.

Well I'm hoping it's still more car-like than an F-150 but yes I'm looking forward to the added clearance.

I'll for sure create a separate thread with photos of my install and impressions.

Wonder if flexseal spray would hold. It’s supposed to stay pliable

Like the look. What type of rack is that? My camper shell is back ordered for 4 months and I'm looking for something to carry my kayak in the interim. Thx!

Plasti Dip might work good. Stays kind of flexible.
