Any chance you can test-drive a hybrid and an Ecoboost? Maybe a Bronco Sport with the 4-cyl turbo if an Ecoboost Maverick isn't available?

I'm very happy with my hybrid and I'd buy another. It has ample power for merging on a highway or passing on a two lane road.

However I wouldn't say it makes beautiful music when I press the accelerator to the floor. It gets the job done but the person in the passenger seat always looks at me with considerable disapproval. Actually she does this even when I'm not driving, so that may be an unrelated problem. :D

When I drive with a light foot, which is most of the time, I like the turbine-like acceleration of the hybrid with its shiftless eCVT. And there's a "Sport mode" I can engage if I want a more responsive accelerator and fake shifts.

It's all how you drive it and the temp outside. Here (photo) was the other day on back roads, some highway. 72 mpg and more on electric than gas isn't normal for me, but 40 mpg for me is when it isn't crazy cold out. Hyper-miles is a skill and it's a machine with a lot of tools to get you there, but if you slam your foot on and off pedals mileage will be much lower. It excels in stop and go, low speed roads for milage. I love this thing! I can work from it with a laptop plugged in built-in inverter and just run one heated seat be comfortable when it's 16 degrees out and the ICE engine kicks on like every 30 min or no heat on a warmer day and it will go over and hour without calling for gas. It has ample power for me and I would rather not burn money for no reason. I'm paid milage, that's profit. If you want max blast off the line all the time get the ecoboost. I was surprised how well the hybrid comes off the line after a long history of driving economy cars - 22' XLT Hybrid. Also, this isn't "new" technology. It's Fords 4th gen and they have been doing this for about 20 years.
Ford Maverick Ordered a 25' Lariat Hybrid , Having second thoughts ... 1000014544

Hello all , my first post and very happy to be here . I have been skulking around a bit and reading
a lot of posts , I have a 3/31 build date for my 2025 Lariat AWD hybrid , space white , BAP , tow pack , sun roof , slider , console vault and some other goodies . After lots of reading I'm beginning to wonder if I should have gone with the ecoboost and the 8 spd .

After lots of reading it seems the abundant mileage I was hoping to get is going to be a pipe dream , I
like the thought of trying something new "hybrid technology" but I'm leaving power on the table vs ecoboost
and I may only achieve 5-6 more miles per gallon with hybrid .

Currently I'm commuting to work 110 MI round trip in a 2023 F450 Lariat diesel dually (keeping) so no matter which maverick I get it will be a mileage improvement over the 17 I'm getting now . Can any
25' hybrid owners give me some feedback or advice whether I should keep this hybrid coming or maybe
opt for the ecoboost , I'm trying not to make the wrong decision . It seems from reading some of you really like your hybrid's and some do not any input much appreciated !

Coming from someone who had a 23 tremor and now has a 25 hybrid instead, I would go with hybrid. Other than in the top end of the power band I don’t notice huge difference between a difference hybrid and eco boost especially now the that the hybrid and eco boost have awd and 4K towing.

Current lifetime average of my Mav is 38.4 with 1684 mi on it. Lowest highway trip I had which was an hour drive to see my gf which was 31.5mpg. That was windy, 15 degree F, and driving at 70-75 mph. Normally on those drives I’d get between 33-36 mph🤷🏾‍♂️. City driving I easily got 40+ mpg.

Only would get an eco boost if I really wanted a Tremor or a Lobo, but that’s just me.

it's actually pretty ugly-sounding when you put your foot into it. Not gonna lie there, it's not fun. On the other hand, 100% torque from 0 RPM is something that has to be felt to be believed, it's really that amazing. And while people complain about not enough power, that's usually what they're talking about, that punch right from the start. So it does all depend on priorities.

One thing about the engine...yeah, it sounds ugly, but it's port injected, not direct-injected. So the intake valves will have gas and detergents washing over them all the time and should need a LOT less cleaning, and last longer. In fact, since it's also naturally aspirated, it's a simpler engine overall. Not saying the Ecoboost is less reliable, it's a solid engine. But sometimes it's nice having fewer parts to potentially break.

There are a lot more advantages to the Hybrid over the Eco than just FE, though lets be clear there is NO Comparison when it comes to FE. Its not even close.
Now if you value performance and you like the mod your engine, ie tune it, then yes, the Ecoboost holds the clear advantage here. But I'd suggest another vehicle for that purpose.

Hey, if you're not sure about the power, go test drive one. Plenty of 23-24's around to try.

I have a 24 lariat hybrid and there are no power or acceleration issues. The lariat includes the adaptive cruise control which is great for those long commutes.

I'm curious. Not trolling you. I'd love to see those "lot more" hybrid advantages listed. Maybe I'll learn something new.

I do think one advantage is that you can get the hybrid in FWD, and I think you have to get AWD for the 2025 ecoboost. I mean, why would somebody in Florida want AWD (maybe sand offroad)? It was a strange decision by Ford, but I'm sure there is logic behind it. I suspect they want to move hybrids for CAFE reasons. If that's true, I wouldn't be surprised to see the ecoboost discontinued in a model year or two.

I have a 2025 Hybrid Lariat AWD with the 4k Tow. I commute 80miles a day round trip with it. 90% of the miles are highway miles or country road miles. So most of that 80 miles is at 60-65mph.

When it was -20 up here I was getting 26-28mpg. As things have warmed up to above freezing temps I have been averaging around 34-36mpg. This is all using normal drive mode and some careful driving to maximize the amount of electric use I get on the trip. I would still say I am far from "hypering" the truck.

I am coming from a 1.8t modified VW Sportwagen. I gave up quite a bit of power going from the 320hp that had to the hybrid. I can tell you that for most of my driving it is not noticeable at all. Multi car passing has become more difficult but it has made me a more patient drive I feel like in exchange. That car was also reliably getting 34-38mpg depending on the weather so time will tell if the extra ground clearance, AWD, and eaiser to load storage space of the Maverick will pay off for me or not.

I plan to start using eco mode in the truck so see what kind of impacts that has on the next few commutes as well. The truck has just over 1000mi on it now feels like either the warm weather, the truck breaking in, or both has the MPG on the rise.

Don’t mean to duplicate other posts. My 23 hybrid Maverick is the best truck I’ve ever owned. Hands down. Very zippy. Very reliable.
Mileage falls off in cold weather, and in hot. To be expected. I still have a winter average here in Maine of 40+ mpg.
Spring and fall: 47 mpg.
If you’re not hauling campers or heavy boats I would go hybrid.

We have the 24 XLT Hybrid. Absolutely love it. Has plenty of pep and power for any situation.

Ours was rated to get 33mpg but we are averaging 44 mpg.

Best of all worlds, will not go back.

I'm sure it's been said, but short trips where you have the heat on will end up having low MPG. My around-town, 2-4 mile trips tend to be in the upper 20s because the engine is still trying to warm up to meet the HVAC heat demands. When I do my longer drives, about 40 miles on 50/50 highway and country 45 mph roads, I get 39-41 MPG. I'm sure that my around-town drives will increase once New Jersey starts getting consistently warmer weather. This is my observation in my first week of ownership.

Yea , I don't know . That's why I'm asking ... Just want to do it right the first time , and yes a lot
of my previous decisions over the years have been incorrect unfortunately !

I am getting good input from all and is much appreciated , this is a tremendous help .
Yeah, I hear you. I kind of jokingly posted that both are pretty solid options from being on this forum and they both have a place in the Maverick world. Like others have stated and I’ve tried it a few times the hybrid in the sport mode is pretty fun!!

Yeah, hybrids don't necessarily heat well. The batteries are too small to rely on purely electric heat, and they tend not to have heat pumps, so they rely on the engine to generate heat. They seem to do a lot better running the (electric) air conditioning all the time.

When making the hybrid vs eco-boost decision, Wisconsin residents can consider the $75/year added license fee for using hybrid technology. ICE-driven, non-hybrid vehicles using different technology that achieve similar mpg are not subject to the added license cost. Go figure! I don’t drive enough to offset the fee impact with less gas expenditures, but still thought other differences made my hybrid choice worth while.
