Because at some oil change 9K ago you used someone different and they failed to reset the counter.

ETA: and for the result you had, you used them again, confirming they are unaware of the reset.
Thanks MDFN!

Hmmm? So it remembers the one he missed the reset on. Do we have to reset twice one for the current change and one for the skipped one?

3k is way to early and as stated someone didn’t reset the olm. You can say any mileage you want is when to change. All mileage is not the same on oil.

I’ve posted several blackstone oil analysis and everyone comes back saying I have at least 2k miles more life left once my monitor is down to 0 percent.
Let science and testing guide you. Not some number you think is the magic one

Back In the early sixties the oil additive package were not nearly as advanced. and the machining process when making engines was not nearly as accurate.
Me :
2008 Tacoma 2.7 Liter work truck always hauling loads all day. Even a trailer for more than 100,000 miles In the Central Florida heat and humidity, 80-90,000 miles a year.
Mobil 1 Full syn changed at 10,000 mile Intervals. Did you read that ?

528,000 trouble free miles.

Your wasting money.

That Taco was one of several. One of my fellow drivers, same truck same long service life on Jiffy Lubes cheapest roach oil. His actually ran better than mine at 530,000 miles when he traded it for a new one.
He didn't get much trade in, Imagine that !

I think It's In your owners manual, or find it yourself by going through the menu's. Mines behind the steering wheel, in that screen. But mines the Ecoboost flavor, a 2024.
It's a simple reset of the Oil monitoring system.

It isn't that complicated, you just reset oil life any time you change the oil.

Reset it.

And you should also spray the inside of the carburetor with a cleaner while you're at it. Cuz cars haven't changed since the 60s.

I drive about 3500 miles a year. The Oil Life Monitor will go to zero at around the 1 year anniversary of my oil change. Obviously my oil change schedule is calendar driven not miles driven.

Those that say 3000 miles is too soon always fail to mention that it is too soon for them, not necessarily too soon for some of us. Some of us old timers still believe that even at today's inflated costs, oil changes are the cheapest preventative maintenance one can do to their vehicle. We tend to be funny like that.

I would never tell someone their oil change schedule is wrong. None of my business in the way they run their business. Not my money. Not my worry. I have enough trouble taking care of myself at 76 years of age.

I drive even less than you and at one year I was at 1500 miles and the oil life monitor was around 45% but I changed it anyway. If anyone gives you grief just tell them about me
